Summary: A while back, I posted that I'd started watching an old favorite series, Adam-12. [livejournal.com profile] karaokegal asked me if it was a slashy as she remembered it. I considered her question for a while, and had to say yes and no. Most people would ship Malloy with Reed, but to me, that kind of chemistry between Malloy and MacDonald was clear. I think they've got something going on the down low, and this is how it got started. Please bear in mind that this is set forty years ago, and attitudes about sexuality have changed since then.

Malloy is indifferent to the gender of his sexual partners. He has a slight preference for women, but when you get right down to it, a hot mouth is a hot mouth and both sexes have them. )

This was actually written ages ago; I was in a British Literature class that required us to keep a journal. I had the bright idea of doing mine in verse, and I produced this poem, when we studied Browning.

I never would've thought to post it if not for a request from [livejournal.com profile] rosehiptea over at [livejournal.com profile] 5minutefandoms. I hope this is as classy as she hoped for!

The New Duchess

"Have you ever seen a lovlier gown?
Trimmed with the finest Brussels lace,
It cost three hundred pounds—
And oh, the look on Father's face!
'She'll wear it once!' he roared.
'She's getting a dowry—a big one, too'
But Mother took my side, and implored,
Saying that to seem too frugal wouldn't do;
'Twould offend who who seeks her hand.
We cannot afford his ill-will;
Tis safest to be grand,
Altho' we may regret the bill.'

"Mind you pack that petticoat with care!
It is the finest that I've got.
Silk, soft as heavenly angel's hair,
Need I say it cost quite a lot?
Father, of course, begrudged every shilling.
To keep up appearances, he paid
Though he was most unwilling
And to Maman, claimed he prayed
That my duke wouldn't know 'til far too late
How dearly he'd pay for my exquisite taste.

"What foolishness! Father's man has told
Of the splendor of his residence,
Of sculpture, art, and precious gold
Everywhere in evidence.
Such a man will wish—nay, require
A perfectly groomed and turned-out wife,
Sparkling with lustrous gemstones; fire—
It shall be a lovely life!

"No, no! Wait! Stop!
You mustn't pack that yet!
Save that for the very top.
Don't you know how wrinkled it would get?
I shall wear that on my wedding night
To greet my husband fine
That he may find his heart's delight
In its alluring design.

"I mean to banish memory
Of she who came before,
So I will be the one that he
Adores forevermore.
I'll gaze at him, eyes shy and wide,
Wait breathless for his every word,
Never venture from his side,
And speak as sweetly as a bird.
He'll give me everything I ask,
When he forgets his sorrow...
Don't dawdle, girl, get on with your task—
For I depart tomorrow."

Shows, you are BOTH breaking my heart. I started this after SoA broke my heart with 4.08 (Spoilers ahead.). Pecked the first half into my iPod and managed to synch it to my computer before the iPod went MIA. Then SPN broke my heart with 7.10...for a while, I wasn't sure I'd finish this, but if I do "retire" from SPN fandom, this is as good an epitaph as I can imagine.

Two old war buddies reconnect; Piney has a problem, Bobby's got a solution. )

Authored by: [livejournal.com profile] vanillafluffy
Pairing/spoilers: None
Rating/Work-safeness: PG, OC death
Approximate word count: 1000
Disclaimer: All rights belong to Elmore Leonard, Graham Yost et al.
Summary A/N: I thought "Blaze of Glory" did a terrific job of showcasing the character of Art Mullen. Loved it! But I've liked Nick Searcy ever since his days on "American Gothic". Wednesday night, I was left scratching my head, going, "I didn't think he was THAT old." Just to be sure, I IMDb'ed him and found out that he's *barely* 52, which isn't exactly ancient. Time for some backstory to explain how Art has gotten a little banged-up along the way.

Leopard-print cardi love! Now I just need to find it in a 2x.

Meanwhile, I've been well-occupied today. Grabbed the constantly capsizing mountain of clothes off my cedar chest. Threw a load of colors in the wash, with a load of darks waiting its turn. If I do a load a day, I think I might actually be caught up sometime around April. Found my favorite sweater, the cranberry chenille one---alas, it's probably too late to do me any good this winter!

Also spent a chunk of time organizing my tags: I realized, when trying to locate The Ghost of a Junkyard Dog that an awful lot of my early fics weren't properly tagged. Some were under writing, or fic. Or they were only listed by the fandom. This inspired me to go through those tags and many more, and now the tag "author: vanillafluffy" is teeming with fics that haven't seen the light of day since they were posted. There may still be a few things buried in the archives, but I've now got 100 entries, from multi-part tales like "Seen and Unseen", to random drabbles that were posted and forgotten, to hardcore porn, to things I'd lost track of, like my first-ever House fic (which had a total of three reader comments).

Basic math says there are another hundred stories out there (My total number of fics posted at the Pit is 156, some of them multi-chaptered.), am I'm fatigued at the thought of posting and tagging all that. Add to that AO3, which has exactly FIVE of them and is a real pain-in-the-ass to import to---! Any thoughts on what I ought to do for redundancy? (God, I wish I'd hung onto that how to code textbook that HWSNBN left behind. I could build a website on [livejournal.com profile] sbjb's server if I knew what I was doing.)

A few more things that surfaced, cross-posted to [livejournal.com profile] bystanderfic:

By Dawn's Early Light Pirates of the Caribbean, dub-con (fuck or die), has a plot

Learning Experience Once Upon a Time in Mexico, elplicit slash, my rare PWP

Fortune Cookie Batman Begins, gen, starring one of my favorite OFCs ever

Underlying Causes House MD, gen, Rowan Chase's relationship with his son

Flying Towards Destiny The Mummy Returns, pre-slash*, Jonathan/Ardeth

Theatricality Batman Begins, gen, aging OFC

Cravings Once Upon a Time in Mexico, het sex and a blind voyeur

First Choice Nick of Time, gen, yeah, it's obscure

================================================

* This was supposed to be the whole thing, self-contained. I let someone talk me into continuing it, and it's the only unfinished fic I have at the Pit. Just enjoy this as is.

It's set in the 1940s and 50s, and it features a family of circus aerialists, and one of the most angsty, low-key slash pairings ever---although that isn't addressed here. It's just my little follow-up to where the book left everyone....
