Salvation vs Redemption: A point to ponder
Lately, what with this season's storylines on SPN, I've been wondering about the difference between salvation and redemption. I finally had the thought cross my mind while I was in the same room as a dictionary, so I looked it up.
Basically, salvation is preemptive: It is to rescue from impending peril. Redemption, on the other hand, is to regain something that has been lost.
So, in terms of the boys, Dean has been redeemed and is struggling for Sam's salvation.
