The remains of the day

Wednesday was...long. I didn't sleep worth shit and finally awoke for good around 9. Wandered around getting packed (the ETA I had was vague: late afternoon), finally went out for gas and stuff. (It's a sorry state of affairs when I'm pitifully grateful to "only" pay $2.98 a gallon for gas.) After that, since I was in the area, I went to a newish discount place AI has been touting. Discovered that their plus sizes aren't, really, but found a denim fedora w/ a rhinestone buckle for $2.97, a melon-striped men's shirt for $3.49, and, planning ahead for the bordello boudoir, a pair of ornate gold wire over-the-door racks---$4.99 each.

Grabbed lunch at BK, went back to the house, and ended up crashing in one of the recliners in the family room, which was actually more comfortable than the #$%&ing guest bed. Napped for an hour or two.

We had the first real "boom and crash" afternoon shower of the season---I was glad I didn't have to drive in it, although this was quite a bit later than my commute time anyway, about 5-ish. And frankly, after seven months of commuting, I've gotten over a lot of my highway hysteria (at least when I'm driving).

"Late afternoon" turned out to be 7 PM. PJ got me postcards (per my request), and AI got me a new tarot deck (total surprise!). The C's thanked me profusely, and they're taking me to dinner at Outback on Saturday evening. (Rack o' lamb, here I come!)

I stopped by Walgreens on the way home, and dropped off the RX I got from the dentist weeks ago and have been carrying around ever since...my mouth is screaming without a sound, which isn't the happiest of homecomings. Although, even with that, I'm glad to be home. It may be a pit, but by golly, it's MY pit. I'm very much looking forward to my own bed!

My original plan when I requested this Saturday off was to cruise down to Vero for a car show they're having, but instead, B and I are going to see how much more we can get done here. (And I'm going over to her place before work on Friday to help her take up some water-damaged carpet---although we've made that plan before and had to cancel.)

It would be nice if we could get the white wall shelf hung, although B said something about a plan to organize my TV stand...not *my* highest priority, but she's the organizational genius, so I'll go along with it....

Ooh, which tarot deck?

The UFO tarot. I haven't opened it yet, but from the artwork on the box, I'd say it's gonna be weird....

There is nothing that beats sleeping in your own bed... It's one of the things I look forward to most about getting back from the Netherlands each week.

*That* sounds like an interesting commute!

It's fair to say it has its moments... Like yesterday when the trip from the office to the airport took 1 hour 40 minutes instead of the more normal 50 minutes...

I don't like to go on vacation for more than four days because I miss my bed so much. My husband could sleep anywhere, including on a pile of rocks, so he has no sympathy for my weirdness.

Yah! for great shopping and great organizing, too.

I ended up sleeping past 11 AM, so I feel more like a human being this morning. There really is no place like home!
