I suspect there's quite a Bonanza cast reunion going on in the Hereafter. Yeah, I know, he exited in the middle of the series, not a great career move, but back in the day, he and Lorne Greene, Dan Blocker and Michael Landon were one of the most memorable TV families of all time, certainly of the Golden Age of TV Westerns. (I *miss* westerns! What's happened to America that we've let our greatest genre fade away?!)

lol - Lorne Green went silver early. Mike Landon once said Ben Cartwright was the only 45 year old man with two thirty-five year old sons. ;)

That's kinda like on Supernatural, where "dad" Jeffrey Dean Morgan is only 12 years older than Jensen Ackles, who plays his oldest "son".

I didn't know that!
It brings up one of the major differences between the 'pretty boys' and those who are 'ruggedly handsome'. In general, pretty boys have an easier time playing younger parts, while rugged guys can play older without a lot of makeup.

Personally, with a few notable exceptions, I'm most often drawn to men who are a little weather-beaten and look like they've seen something of life.

AMEN. I won't say I've never gone for a pretty one, but most of the time, I like 'em with a little wear. Johnny Depp being a prime example---when he was younger I couldn't have cared less, but once he started showing a few lines, I got interested. (Okay, so it was Jack Sparrow. What can I say? Bad boys....)

*whimper* That's all of them, isn't it? Except for David Canary and Jamie Vogel who joined the cast much later.

We're overdue for a comback of the western. The networks have gone through cop shows, lawyers, doctors, sci-fi, and fantasy. Reality shows threw a kink in things, but as soon as the cable networks figure out there's a market, we'll get a channel just for westerns and movies/shows set on farms and ranches. John Wayne, Roy Rogers, Bonanza, Gunsmoke, Lonesome Dove, Little House on the Prairie, the Waltons, Lassie, and Sarah Plain and Tall, even Field of Dreams.

Yup, definitely a western network, probably with some macho name, like SPUR or POSSE. And let's not forget to screen Clint Eastwood (Rawhide and all his western movies), Wild Wild West, The Big Valley, Deadwood and one of my favorites, the six episode series Wildside, which was a mid-80s cross between Wild Wild West and The A-Team....

Seems like he was on a hospital show later in his career- I can't remember which one. He was balding but still good looking.

Trapper John, M.D., on Sunday nights. His co-star was the adorable Gregory Harrison, whose character lived in an RV in the hospital parking lot.

Yes, of course! That's when I fell in love with Gregory Harrison!!! How could I forget?? Then, he turned kind of schwarmy and I didn't care much for the "Lifetime -I am going to beat the hell out of you and I am a real creepy guy" type movies that he began doing.

That's just about every Lifetime movie ever! I think these days, they're just about the only ones doing made-for-TV movies, have you noticed? SyFy does miniseries events, another phenomenon that's fading away. The major networks, not so much any more.

Major crush on Adam when I was grown up, and for some reason (my mother had it) I played the Bonanza CHRISTMAS album rather obsessively, including Pernell (I assume it was him) singing a very lovely spiritual.
