Good-bye, Stormy

S & T have postponed their departure for a day due to the death of one of the schnauzers last night. Now they're down to two, who are younger and healthier and louder and more obnoxious, but hey, schnauzers....

Stormy was the dowager bitch of Macs's harem. I'm not surprised that she's dead---her health has been poor for several years---but the timing is unfortunate. Although, it would've been worse if she'd died while they were away. *shudder*

Now, she can see and she's not limping around. I hope she's frolicking with Macs on the other side of the Rainbow Bridge---and with Grover, whom she never met, but he was S's old dog. (He was 12 or so when she got Macs, and Grover was a very good influence when it came to house-breaking.)

Word. I feel bad for S, who's probably going to use it as an excuse to get plastered in Key West, but I can't do anything about her dog or her drinking. And knowing her, if she'd died on my watch, I would never, EVER have heard the end of it. She would've probably demanded her vet do an autopsy.

Life goes on. I'm off to get a haircut.

Oh, I'm sorry about the dog, but extremely relieved she didn't die while you were housesitting. That would have been the worst!

I feel like I just dodged a bullet! Because it somehow would've been MY fault.

I'm sorry - I think it's always hard to lose a pet. Like the others, though, I'm happy for you that it happened before they left.

Nothing I did caused it, and there's nothing I can do about it, so I figure that's a best-case scenario.

Awwww... :-( I just lost THREE of my rattie boys this week alone (Despereaux died in my arms on Monday night, and I had to have Pip and Stuart put to sleep on Thursday) so I know how painful a loss this is for S.
