Don't fence me in---?

No, I don't have a fence yet. Just because I set a date for the installation TWO WEEKS AGO is certainly no reason to think it would actually happen as scheduled.

According to Them, they're waiting for the official permit. They were supposed to call me this afternoon and let me know what the status was on that. Notice use of "supposed do". Didn't. Nope. Not a peep. That was AFTER I called them this morning to find out WTF was going on, because they don't have the courtesy to keep me in the loop.

Possibly they are going to come 'round and ring my bell at the crack of 8 tomorrow. I am not holding my breath, but damn it, I *do* have other things planned that don't involve sitting around the house waiting for them to get off their collective asses and get to work. But why should I expect them to tell me anything? I'm just the homeowner!

I'm about ready to go down there and demand the return of my deposit. If, that is, I don't lose my good words and just start swearing in a very unladylike fashion.

More as it happens.

Ah, yes. The good ol' run around. I'd get my money back pronto. If they're this crappy BEFORE the job, what the hell kind of fence are they gonna install!?

That's another one of the annoying things about all this run-around: This *isn't* some fly-by-night company. They've been around for years and are well-established in the community.

The trouble is, I got landed with a new saleswman who has his head up his ass, and keeps talking about how they do things in Michegan. Otherwise, the permitting would've been taken care of a week ago, instead of him dicking around with survey bullshit, which it turned out I *didn't* need, because there was a preexisting fence there that's just being replaced. Arrrgh!

Urgh, I hate the "hurry up and wait" game. Red tape and bullshit -- DO NOT WANT.

*ahem*

Sorry, it's just that I've been there/done that and I'm really feeling your frustration right now.

After waiting all day for news, I called the permitting office, got transfered to Natural Resources, talked to a dingleberry who kept mumbling about his task list, wondering why it hadn't gone on to the next person becausse he'd approved it on Friday. Called the fence company again, and apparently they either left early, or they recognized my number and were avoiding me. No answer. So it's STILL up in the air, but it doesn't look like it'll happen tomorrow, either, because the fence people still have to pay the permitting office.

Tick tock....
