Well, that's not going to fucking work.... (Wherein I say fuck a lot. Deal with it.)

Unearthed the fishtank stand. Moved the rolling cart aside, hauled the microwave over, set it down and discovered two serious problems. Yes, it's a little low, but that's inconvenient, not insurmountable. Howaver, it protrudes about six inches into the doorway, even with the door closed. *And* I can't shift the fridge enough to plug it in.

I have conceded defeat, at least temporarily. I put the old, small microwave back in its corner so I can at least nuke dinner. The rolling cart is blocking much of the counter. The new nuker is sitting there, semi-blocking the entrance. And I'm trying to figure out wtf to do now. The only other outlet in the room is at the other end of the counter, which should be wide enough, no problem there. The logistics, however, are a fucking nightmare.

My dishes live in the dishrack, which is right there in front of the last outlet, along with the toaster. Toaster is easy enough to move. Dishrack...*headdesk*...maybe. If I went through my cupboards, got rid of every damn thing that isn't Corelle or Pyrex, hauled it off to Goodwill and kept my regular dishes in that cabinet...I might, possibly, be able to park it in the corner of the dining room and stretch the cord to the last outlet, but only if I move a metric assload of stuff that lives in that corner now, because the fucking moron who designed my house didn't put ANY outlets in the dining room whatsoever. Excuse me while I throw a tantrum about how much I HATE MY FUCKING KITCHEN.

I know; First World problem. To which I say, I don't fucking care. It's still a problem, and on top of all my other problems, it's STRESS, which I don't fucking need any more of. WHY?! Why is it that having something that's supposed to be good happen turns into such a fiasco?!

Rant (and cuss) away! You have my utmost sympathy and understanding. Why is nothing EVER simple? Just move one thing, replace with another, plug in and voilĂ ! Easy, breezy!

Nope, it NEVER fucking works that way for me, either.

Very, very seldom. But I'll get it sorted out sooner or later. (I've been up at Mb's all week, which has been restful, but not very productive.)

*hugs* We have a shortage of outlets in our place, too. And I'm always uncomfortable using tons of extension cords, so I feel your pain. :((((

I couldn't survive without extension cords! I grumbled out the outlet-lack once to my ex, who reminded me that in the simpler time, when my house was built (circa 1958), the only things people were likely to be plugging in were stuff like lamps and alarm clocks or maybe a radio. Never mind multiple chargers for iDevices, laptops, TVs, VCRs SVD players, DVRs, etc. If I ever build a house, ALL the outlets will have six-plug sockets!

Oh yes, I have more than one of those 6-plug things....

But my place was built in 2007, and it STILL could use more outlets....or maybe I need less technology, heheh. ;)
