Okay, so I'm a couple days late....

I've finally gotten around to throwing that brisket into the slow cooker. My method: Cut brisket in half so it'll fit. Put in the first piece, fat side up, so the fat will cook down into the meat. Layer half a jar of sauerkraut over it. Cover it with the second piece in the same manner, and the remainer of the 'kraut. Pour in a bottle of beer. (My brew of choice is JW Dundee's Honey Lager.) Turn on crockpot and go about your business.

That assures me of dinner for the rest of the week....

And may I just say I tried this on St. Patty's Day and found it to be one of the best things I've ever made in the Crock pot. I used a bottle of hard cider, 'cause I couldn't buy just one beer and don't like beer enough to drink the rest of a six pack. I love hard cider though, and it gave the cabbage an extra sweet taste. Yummm!

Hmm...that sounds intriguing. *makes note to pick up some hard cider*

Have you heard? The broadcast premier of the trailer for PotC At World's End is going to be shown during Dancing With the Stars tonight on ABC.

OMG, I love beef (or pork) with sauerkraut, but I never thought to use beer - or even hard cider. What a great idea!

*drools*

You never know what you're going to pick up hanging out with me and my posse!

Heh! This is true, and thank God for that!

It's not that I've never cooked with beer or spirits before, but I just never thought to add them to sauerkraut. My mouth is seriously watering, dammit!

I hate to drink beer, but sauerkraut with beer or any dark gravy with beer or beer-soup are just the best things ever.

Once in a great while, I'll have a beer. Mostly, I just cook with it!

Heheh, I LOVE making huge batches of everything. Means I only have to cook 2-4 times per week. Which is great, especially when I'm working at get home 6:15 every weekday...
