Today is the day Lambie was supposed to arrive...as we all know, that's not happening. Yesterday, FLH was supposed to come by...he texted at the last minute with the excuse that he was double-booked...today, though, I was feeling fairly ambitious and thought I'd take on the kitchen. I had the bright idea of clearing enough space in the long drawer on the front of the buffet and use it to stash the flat stuff that was living on top of the buffet in a rack. Did that, which tidied the look of it a bit...cleared things off the top of the microwave (also on the buffet--at the south end) and used that space for my blender, mini slow cooker and Instant Pot.
Great. So far, so good. Rearranged the bookcase with my Pyrex...made room for the aforementioned rack as used it to stash serving platters and a bread board. Moved things from the top of the bookcase, which made enough room for another pitcher AND I found a Pyrex bowl that's been MIA for a while. Looking good!
With the Instant Pot relocated, there was room on the table in front of the window, which I though would be a good place for my calla lily. Now, to save my back, I was sitting in an office chair for most of this. I rolled over to the sink, lifted out the calla and was holding it with one hand while I was fishing in the bottom of the sink for the drip pan I had under it. And that's when things went to shit, because the tall back of the office chair caught the toggle of my Brita dispenser (on the north end of the buffet) and it brought it down, along with a variety of nearby objects. It was FULL. Most of the water trickled down into the heating vent which is located right there, and I down have a wet-dry vac, so IDK what's going to happen now--will it humidify the house until it evaporates, or am I going to wind up with mold?
At any rate, my lovely big Brita dispenser is completely smashed. Luckily, I still have the old pitcher and insert, although it's a quarter of the size. *sigh*
Honestly, I should have started going through the five trash bags full of clothes GK brought over yesterday. I just wasn't up to trying on umpteen pairs of pants--so I thought I'd do something else that was constructive and ended up being destructive instead. Half my bed is still piled with clothes from trying to clear out my closet...no two ways about it, I'm a hot mess. The only good thing is that I'll be doing flower delivery with GK on Thursday (only day she's doing it this season)...I may be able to make enough to cover the cost of a new one.Or at least part of it. Not what I had in mind, but what else is new?
