Eye-eye-eye!
Jan. 2nd, 2006 08:46 pmAfter repeated procrastination, I finally got my eyes examined this evening and ordered two pairs of new glasses. Happy news is, I do *not* need bifocals and my eyes can be brought up to 20/20 on both eyes, which is apparently as good as it gets. The optometrist was a nice guy who reminded me of a 50-something Harvey Keitel, which is not a bad thing either!
Picked out two frames which were exactly what I wanted: first pair are blue-black rectangles, very cool, and those are going to have the $60 anti-glare coating so hopefully I won't have to hide when the sun goes down. The other pair is a funky gold update on cat's eye frames. There's no lower rim on the frame, and they've got a little wrought-metal twist at the corner--really cute! The first pair makes me look very mature and intellectual, and the second pair is retro glamour at its playful best. (Okay, let's not kid ourselves: Rita Skeeter without the rhinestones!) Somehow, I *will* find a way to post pix when I get them. I'm SO excited!
The pair I'm wearing now has a 5-year old 'scrip, which is noticeably fuzzy and the "bronze" frames have eroded to steel. The money for them was my mother-unlaw's Christmas present that year. (No, that isn't a typo. She wasn't my mother INlaw because I *wasn't* married to her son...thank the benevolent deity of your choice.) I deliberately picked the most "invisible" frames I could--which says something about my state of mind, then and now.
( My new 'scrip--if you have a clue what this translates to... )
