Today was semi-productive...I got the new TV hooked up--wow, flesh tones! I'm really impressed! Albert told me that the channel changer only worked with a cable box...that's not quite what I've found. If I try to hit the "up" or "down" buttons, it defaults to channel 3, but if I enter the channel number, it goes right there. And it has a "return" button so one can pop back and forth between two particular channels, and the "mute" button works. As far as I'm concerned, *that* makes it a resounding success, and I may turn into a major couch potato.

Which is what I did this morning--sat on the sofa for several hours being crafty. *wishes for the technological sophistication to share the fruits of her labor* I *love* that set of pliers I got! Now I just need a good new pair of round-nosed pliers....

I was in an especially creative mood: I assembled something with those blue-green shell spikes--combined with black pearls (Fang). I did a white pearl/gold bead/crackled glass necklace with pearl and gold buttons and a (chandelier drop) faceted glass pendant (christened Queen Victoria). Had an inspiration about the blue and orange lampwork beads, alternated them with natural shell rectangles with blue chips as spacers. (*Love* that one. The others I'd cheerfully find good homes for--they're nice, but I don't *love* them.) And I tore apart the one with the natural crystal pendant...I wasn't happy with the way the copper was weathering. Used the last of my 20-gauge hard silver to make skewers for some hematite and pewter stars and a couple of the cut-glass octagons. Since that was the *last* of the hard silver wire, I used that piece of silver-link chain that R gave me--cannibalized a sterling clasp from a snake chain that snapped.

After getting the TV up and running, I got sucked into watching "Stir of Echoes", which wasn't bad. I'm not a huge Kevin Bacon fan, and the "echoes" I got were mostly of "The Sixth Sense", but Koepp's suspense chops were adequate in terms of camera framing and cutting. (I'm way too much of a cinema-twink when I watch something like that with zero suspense but a certain polite interest: is that prop going to be shown again? is this tangent going to be resolved? and checking each point off like it's my to-do list.) The plot? Please. Saw it coming. But the way it was presented--*that* was worth watching.

The really ironic part? I have a DVD copy of it--it was in a double set with "The Ninth Gate"--I've had SoE for almost a year and a half and never watched it.

There's a freeze warning for tonight, so I took my shower and washed my hair early so I won't have to do it in the morning...going to church with wet hair is *not* an option.
