Impulse purchase
Mar. 9th, 2006 09:16 pmWe had a door-to-door salesman come in to where I work today. I know, it sounds like the beginning of a strange joke..."A door-to-door salesman walks into a medical billing office--" but in fact, people come in trying to sell things from time to time. Usually it's a book vendor, who sets up a display for a week or two at a time and sells a variety of cookbooks, kiddie picture books and inspirational works. Today, the guy had toys--like a little remote control car for $10 (I played with it for a few minutes, and I was tempted, let me tell ya!).
He was also carrying something lime green under one arm--a cushion decorated like a frog's face. It was one of those spandex sacs filled with little micro-beads--I have an oblong one that I tuck under the curve of my neck when I sleep--leopard print, naturally. I was thinking that another one wouldn't be a bad thing, but frogs are not my thing. I asked him if he had anything else, and I think I scared him when I squealed.
I may be the only one who bought anything from him, but I know someone who could use a nice, malleable cushion to rest her weary head on...and I'm sure she'll give that squishy ladybug a good home. *grin* Just don't let the cats get at it!
