Here's the original challenge:
1) Make a list of 15 characters first, and keep it to yourself for the moment. (That way you're not leading the questions asked to fit the characters.)
2) Ask your f'list to post questions in the comments.
For example: "4, 6, 12 & 15 are starting a band together--what is their name and what kind of music do they play? Also, who's the lead singer, and what instruments do the others play?"
3) After your f'list has asked enough questions, round them up and answer them using the 15 characters you selected beforehand, and then post them.

Without further ado--vanillafluffy's list:

1. Bruce Wayne (Batman Begins)
2. Zander Cage (xXx)
3. Dean Corso (The Ninth Gate)
4. El Mariachi (Desperado/Once Upon a Time in Mexico)
5. John Preston (Equilibrium)
6. Neville Longbottom (Harry Potter)
7. Alec Trevalyn (James Bond: Goldeneye)
8. Draco Malfoy (Harry Potter)
9. Riley Poole (National Treasure)
10. Captain Jack Sparrow (Pirates of the Caribbean)
11. Patrick Bateman (American Psycho)
12. Errol Partridge (Equilibrium)
13. Sheldon Sands (Once Upon a Time in Mexico)
14. Richard B. Riddick (Pitch Black)
15. James Bond (Pierce Brosnan)

And I got questions from:

It amused me greatly that I had multiple characters of the same actor meeting each other so often: Alec/Errol (Sean Bean), Zander/Riddick (Vin Diesel), and Corso/Sands (Johnny Depp)....

EDIT: I got a last-minute question from [livejournal.com profile] kukkurkurat, who wanted to know, if 5, 8, 9, 11 and 15 got together, who would win a drinking contest?

Well, since Preston has never had alcohol in his life, I think he'd be the first one to get drunk, but he'd be a fun drunk. Draco may have had butterbeer or an occasional glass of wine, but serious drinking? Puh-leese. He'll be the first one to pass out cold. Riley's been to enough MIT keggers to be a contender, but he's going to wind up puking before he can out-drink James Bond. Patrick Bateman managed to unload a couple of his drinks into the potted plant in the corner--too much booze makes him puffy, which he hates--and if James hadn't invited him to his club for more drinks and dinner, he would have dismembered Draco and Riley while they're out of it. They leave, and Preston is left with passed-out Draco and queasy Riley. He does drunken kata, staggering and laughing at himself.

Was looking on eBay at drums tonight. And I saw one that was actually in my admittedly meager price range--and best of all, it's local. Okay, about thirty miles each way, but my car gets excellent mileage and even with the atrocious cost of gasoline, back and forth--not more than $5-6. I used the "Calculate Shipping" option, and learned that it's offered as USPS Parcel Post and will cost $24.93 to ship--and another $2.30 for insurance.

Should I opt for over-priced Parcel Post? (This is a NO brainer, folks!) I email the seller and ask if we can make other arrangements. I get back an email from this genius who says, "Yes, I've got another one in my store for 'Buy It Now'." That one is $59.95--and ships for $24.93 and an additional $2.30 required for insurance. *head-desk*

No, dude, you're missing the point here. I'm not trying to get it faster. (Although having it for circle tomorrow night would be sweet.) I'm trying to save you the hassle of boxing it up and taking it to the post office, I'm saving the USPS from having to truck it back and forth all over the state through sorting facilities for 3 days, and I'm saving myself upwards of $15.

The opening bid on the first drum--they're identical--is $9.99. If no one were to bid against me, and I could drive to get it, it would cost under $20, which is do-able. But $59.95 plus $24.93 plus $2.30? I don't *have* that kind of money right now, but if I did, I could get a much better drum for it than that. I've assessed the economy drum market; I can get something simple for under $30 including shipping.

At the moment, it's a fairly moot point. The seller has missed his opportunity to sell to me--and my thought is, if it doesn't materialize while I've still got a smidgen of ready cash, it's gonna be a while. Such is life....

(11:20 pm) EDIT: After piddling around doing other things for a while, I checked my email and found a second email from the seller: if I buy his $60 drum, he'll discount shipping for me. I pointed out that if I could afford to pay that much money for a drum, I wouldn't be bitching about shipping in the first place, but thanks and good luck.

He'll probably respond with an indignant comment that I'm a cheap bitch, which is perfectly true. While it's quite possible that there's a reserve on the $9.99 drum, I'm not going to bid on it, because even if I were to win it for $9.99, there's still the matter of shipping, and I am flat-out not going to spend approximately a dollar a mile to get it here. Period.

[profile] folkmew had this list in her journal and asked "How many have of these films YOU seen?" and I was challenged. This list is from "Jim Emerson's 101 Essential Films".  Mind you, I have NO IDEA who Jim Emerson is, or what his criteria is for essential--"The Night of the Living Dead"?! Excuse me?!--but I'm enough of a film geek that I could probably tell you who starred in most of the ones I haven't seen.
