Ever put something off and when you finally got around to it, felt like an idiot because it was nowhere near as bad as you thought it was going to be?
Um, yeah. Cast iron skillet. Sitting on my stove for a while because I peeked under the lid, went "Eeew!" and resolutely ignored it for...quite a while, which can be measured in weeks.
Then today, because I did some grocery shopping and actually have real food that needs to be cooked, i.e., some ground beef, I cleaned up the kitchen. The sink is empty, the counter is scrubbed, and I finally gritted my teeth and dealt with the skillet. Now I'm kicking myself, because those strange-looking things that I squicked at (thinking they were some kind of larvae) turned out to be rosemary needles.
Way to go, me....
