I've been up since 6 a.m., dressed since 8 a.m. (lately, that's a record for me).

The old fridge is at the curb, courtesy of the first shift of L's little helpers. The perishables are in a cooler in my air-conditioned bedroom until the second shift gets here with the new one, probably around 3:30. Everything that was on top of the old fridge is on the kitchen counter or in the sink, I have a tub full of stuff like pickles and ketchup awaiting their new home in the fridge-to-be.

Stuff is stacked on top of other stuff. I'm going to have to work my way over to the couch and try to reclaim the coffee table---something fell over when I shifted it to tuck the edge of the area rug under the leg to keep it out of the pathway, and chaos ensued. My beadwork has scattered; it was none too well-contained to begin with--now it's completely disorganized. *sigh* That's really a blessing in disguise, since it gives me a legitimate reason to sit on the couch and watch the CSI: Miami marathon for a few hours.

I haven't had anything to eat today, except for a handful of peppermints. The kitchen is so "tore up" as my Texas friends would say, that I don't have room to fix anything---there's no counter space, and I can't even get at the microwave. Hmm...cheese and crackers it is. That's okay. It'll all be worth it with the first tray of ice cubes. (Where ARE all my ice cube trays, anyway...?)

Tonight's agenda calls for a shower and hair-wash, because of the job-paperwork b.s. at 9 a.m., but it's gonna be an extra long one after today! I will definitely be in bed early, and I'm sure I'll sleep like a baby!

It arrived in the back of a pickup truck, it's big and beige---not almond, beige and I winced to see that it is at least a decade older than its predecessor, which was crippled during the storms of '04. The movers, in their infinite wisdom, removed the doors before transporting it---I fail to understand this; I've moved numerous refridgerators, and *never* was it necessary to disassemble the doors. They dragged it into the kitchen and stuck the doors back on.

It is even now looming in my kitchen, and it has, in fact, iced over a container of water than I stuck in there, so the freezer does indeed work just dandy. The refrigerator, on the other hand, is still hovering in the 50+ range, according to the thermometer I stuck in there.

It has a couple of interesting features (I've certainly never seen the like.) The fridge-side door is actually two doors--there's a smaller door on the front of the full door that allows access to items in shelves on the lower part of the door. And there's a sensor panel that has a door-open light and a temp gauge that shows whether it's hotter than optimal. So far, it still is, but A. says it can take up to 24 hours to stabilize, so we'll see.

And for a change of pace, here's the never-ending meme. )

I think I may have OD'ed on CSI: Miami...which served to remind me of how much I like David Caruso. Not that I think he's good-looking, exactly---he's just got the saddest face....
