A Grand Day Off
Jan. 7th, 2007 02:45 pmI'm invited for stew and cut-throat canasta in Schnauzerland this evening, which ought to be fun. First, however, I need to transcribe the notes I've been making for Seen and Unseen...and/or the one-shot bunny that's gnawing on my ankle.
R & D from church came by to look at the work I need done on the house...as soon as I've taken care of the property taxes and whatnot, I want to see about getting this place patched up enough to paint, since I *have* the paint, and H.W.S.N.B.N. promised to paint it back in the day, and didn't try to weasel when I mentioned it to him at B & A's wedding. It was last painted in 1985, and looks it.
Home ownership...a mixed blessing....
=================
Cars du jour:
A hearse: mid-70s Cadillac, brown---except for the tailgate, which was pearl white. (I imagine finding parts for something like that is difficult.) It was being driven by two African-American gentlemen of late middle age, and I had a Jacquel and Ibis moment....)
The back end of something OLD. It *had* to be a Model T---the spare tire had spokes.
The latest space-age Corvette ('06? '07?), in a rather pretty yellow.
A Z3, this one a nice soft blue.
A Plymouth Duster. Okay, that's stretching a point, calling it a classic. But it's old enough to be vintage, which is fucking scary.
And---an orange rail buggy scooting through Melbourne traffic---big fat tires on the back, and 13 inchers on the front. Kinda noisy, but it looked like fun!
