A little fashion goes a long way. One thing about my job in apparel, I get The Word about what's In seasonally, and it's rather fun to be able to look at my closet and go, "Hmm, how do I make this work?"

Yesterday, I combined a solid pink A-line skirt (which I've had forbloodyever) with a striped top in pinks, black, white and grey and added a grey blazer, thereby nailing three trends simultaneously: hot colors, nautical stripes and greyed colors. It also showcases my fashion frugality, as it combined an old skirt with a secondhand top and a clearance blazer from Wal-Mart. I figure I've long since amortized the skirt---originally Lane Bryant, circa 1995) so the outfit cost about $20, which isn't bad!

I wore them with my leopard print flats, which are well on their way to paying for themselves, a Goodwill bag---pink leather with a geometric pattern of studs; I spent most of the Super Bowl on the couch with leather cleaner giving it TLC, which paid off---and a necklace I made myself with beads and a big cut-glass chandelier pendant. Adding the shoes and bag pretty much doubles the cost of the ensemble, but I've been using the bag daily and the shoes a couple times a week, so they're earning their keep.

Time to go cruise my closet....
