Decisions, decisions....
Jan. 16th, 2008 03:33 pmI just got back from pacing around Publix trying to pick up a few items and changing my mind and going in circles. Do I really need this? Don't I already have some of that at home? How does this fit into my healthier eating plan? Will this and what I have at home work together? Wasn't I bemoaning a lack of that when I was looking through my recipes?
This is tricky. The thing is, I'm not the most versatile cook. To me, cooking generally involves a pound of ground round and pasta with tomato sauce or gravy. I'm trying to cook more and avoid convenience foods---not completely, but not every meal, every day, either. I'm trying to use fresh ingredients, local where possible. And when in doubt, I go to the book: Let's hear it for The Joy of Cooking.
I refuse to use the "D" word. It smacks of deprivation and denial. I'm trying to be mindful---although I have a few out-of-mind moments! But, my weight is down to where it was before the holidays, so I must be doing something right!
