Department of redundancy department, please

I got a new debit card from my bank, as the old one expired in January. I activated it this morning---it took all of a minute and a half to punch in the card number and my PIN. Okay, the recording tells me, my card is activated. Then it goes on to advise me: "Please remove the sticker from your card before using with any merchant or ATM machine."

You mean an Automated Teller Machine machine? One of those things I need my Personal Identification Number number for? *headdesk* The hell of it is, I don't know if the institution is really that clueless, or if they've deliberately dumbed themselves down to match the level of the general public. *sigh* 'Cause we all know how dumb THEY are....
