A Grand Day Out
Feb. 6th, 2008 07:30 pmToday I went down to Vero to meet
mojavedragonfly and her friend L. The plan called for meeting by the front door of the bookstore at 1 PM...we apparently got there at the same time, as I was hailed as I was crossing the parking lot toward Borders. (She recognized me by my zebra print bag---boy, does she know me or what?! Even if this was the first time we met face-to-face.)
We wandered through a couple of shoe stores and didn't buy anything. I found a black, real leather belt in Lane Bryant that was on marked-down markdown: $5.09 including tax. Then L asked if we were familiar with Koret, which turned out to be a store for Misses, Women and Petites, and we all made out in there. L got a gorgeous teal velour tracksuit with rouching on the jacket, Mojave Dragonfly found two very nice suits, one with a rust-colored jacket and plaid skirt, the other a classic slate blue pin-stripe, and I scored a fabulous structured tapestry jacket in a reversible leopard print for the princely sum of $9.99 plus tax. Cheap at twice the price, is all I can say.
The so-called food court consisted of a Subway and a TCBY---that was IT---so we schlepped up to Applebee's and lunched and schmoozed until the need to beat rush hour overcame us. If it wasn't for that, we'd still be sitting there discussing fandom and whatnot.
Rolled up 130 miles, round-trip, had an awesome time, and right now I'm so tired, I think my head may fall off. (I got maybe six hours of sleep last night, and tonight I'm going to take something so I can sleep regardless of it being a strange place.)
We never did make it into the bookstore.
