Preplanning: I need something for dinner tonight that won't take a lot of cooking, and I'm underwhelmed by the thought of canned soup. So I hauled out the slow-cooker, dumped in some frozen meatballs, tomato sauce and seasoning and got that going, then I filled a pot with water, turned a knob, and wondered back to the computer to check my email while the water came to a boil.
The problem being, I turned the wrong knob. I now have a very hot skillet on an unrelated burner. Am I good, or what? But fortunately, I didn't set anything on fire and there's still enough time to get that done before I have to log in. I'm determined to live out of my pantry/freezer for the rest of the month (because otherwise, what's the point of having one?).
