I came home this evening to an email from J. I called her immediately, and she told me that Macs had passed.

Sir MacIntosh VonWysiwyg was the patriarch of Schnauzerland, a salt-and-pepper rascal who loved tennis balls, squeaking dinosaurs and empty beer or soda cartons. He arrived at his new home by way of a pet store*, where S was dissuaded by yours truly that, really, she did NOT want a yorkie. (A schnauzer has more attitude, and look, isn't this little scamp a darling? Aww, look, he's trying to fight my purse, and it outweighs him by at least twenty pounds.) His death due to congestive heart failure is a shock to all of us who knew and loved him. He is survived by two wives, Stormy Weather and Sunny Weather, and by numerous sons and daughters. He would have been 14 years old this spring.

I do not look forward to contacting S and T. (I am somewhat upset that neither of them has contacted me---he passed on December 30th.)

I am dismayed to realize that I don't have a single digital image of Macs, but no mere picture could truly convey his unique character. He will be much missed.

* I know!---not an ideal source, but his wives both came from reputable breeders.

Church today was a little surreal. We do something called "joys and concerns", wherein we share the highs and lows of what's going on with us under the principle that joy shared is increased and shared sorrow is diminished. I told about Macs---they're critter people, so they understood---and about the departure of He-Boss (confirmed by both She-Boss and C-Boss). Got hugs from several of the gals I'm close to.

AI brought me a bagful of hair ornaments. My hair, while drastically shorter than it was a year ago, is still shoulder-length, so I get plenty of use out of barettes and scrunchies. CapeGypsy confirmed next Monday---I'm SO excited about that!

Because we as a congregation are struggling financially, we rarely have outside speakers (for whom we would have to pay an honorarium). We tend to take turns either speaking or providing programming with spiritual themes. This has included things like episodes of The Twilight Zone and West Wing. This week, *I* exposed them to SPN: Houses of the Holy. (No, Mr. Kripke, I wasn't violating copyright, really. I was prosletyzing for ratings!) It got quite a lot of applause, and AI expressed an interest in seeing the rest of it. Boo-ya!

Tomorrow calls for cashing my check, paying bills, and lunch with Kat....
