Courtesy of a really cool activity at Paste magazine. Because hats are cool, I'm cool---actually, I think I'm having a hot flash. But this was fun to do, and I wanted to share the results with youse guys.

Now I need to go scale Mt. Washmore. Arrgh!

I started my first load of laundry after lunch. While that was going, I sat on the couch and organized some of the stuff on the coffee table. (I may actually get that done this evening!) Started the second load---I'm estimating about four loads, total---and once that was going, I grabbed two cardboard cartons and and filled them with clothes that have been living out there, unworn, for way too long.

It involved speaking sternly to myself: I am NOT going to wear the peach poly-cotton top and pants combo EVER again, or that fussy black blazer, or the bulky, dark green acrylic sweater---the list goes on, and the clothes go OUT. (I did, however, keep the plaid flannel shirt for Kink! reasons.) Even parted with a couple of items that were gifted---I just don't wear them, and I'm sure that, given the state of my house, the bequeathers would understand.

Once I've got the coffee table down to the runner, my bedroom is going to be the next big project. I need to plow a path to my closet so I can hang up all those clean clothes---that's how they ended up heaped atop my cedar chest in a 3-foot tall pile. Okay, not all of it was clothes---there's still about a foot of accumulated books and god-knows-what---and that's yet another thing that needs to be done. Fortunately, I have more boxes.

Tired, tired, tired. OMG, I am going to sleep like a baby tonight. A total of four, count 'em, four loads of laundry, plus excavation of my closet. I'm not done; I still have to hang the last load that's in the dryer as well as the pile of stuff on my bed (stuff not washed), the three completed loads have all been hanged.

I really feel like I ought to prune my wardrobe further. I've got three boxes worth so far (although about half of one is a pair of jeans that's just too short), and I think I could manage another box without too much angst. Looking at things and asking when I last wore it, and in the case of separates, what I would wear them with, or how it looks on, there's quite a bit of stuff that's failing to meet my exacting standards.

If I can just do that with the rest of my house. *sigh* It's time to do another book purge. I'm thinking 500 by April 1st. That will give me time on the side to work on some of my other projects, and still make progress on this one. I have SO many that I've accumulated and read once or gotten duplicates of because I could find the first one, or have hardcover AND paperback. Yes I can....

You all are my witnesses!
