Brain dump

Saturday: Agita at work. Uber-boss is on the rampage, cancelling time off that people have already reserved---my happy little block from 8:45-10 PM Thursday has gone away, which only increses my desire to see her hit by a train. NOT a good day; I was sleep deprived---Asbury Arms spring sale, one especially worthwhile thing: I've been looking for a pot big enough to boil enough macaroni to take in for hospitality. Total of six hours sleep, broken into two three-hour blocks. Could not brain, very frustrating.

Got home, Harper's Island. Not to reveal any major plot points without a cut, but this week's death is really going to muddy the waters, and as I've mentioned elsewhere, *won't* it be ironic if this is the body that actually kicks off a hardcore investigation? (No Sheriff Daddy this week, bummer! And no one has missed the bridesmaid with the yappy little dog yet, which really amuses me out of all proportion.)

Sunday: Stress, hormones, Mercury retrograde, whatever---I got weepy at church and sat for a while after service talking with CapeGypsy and Wolfy, both of whom had comforting and constructive things to say. I calmed down, got some food, went and sat down and got tag-teamed by two more gals who decided to stir the pot. I didn't need that, really I didn't, and since saying "Leave me the fuck alone, okay?" is not the proper attitude to take with people who think they're helping you, I ended up bolting for the door.

The rest of the afternoon didn't go much better. I have Friday, the 8th off, reserved well in advance for Star Trek---a bunch of us from church were going to see it in a group. Got an email saying "Oh joy, we're going to go on Saturday!" which set me off, since I DON'T have that kind of flexability. FINE. I'll go see it by myself. Did, however, get a later email saying StormValkyrie and hubby are having a housewarming party on the evening of the 8th, which mollified me somewhat. I don't mind seeing movies by myself so much, but missing parties sucks even worse.

Pain killer I took for my tooth helped, as did watching one of my favorite Mission: Impossible eps, the one where they're trying to get the old gangster to think it's 1937. I think I last saw that ep back in 1970-ish, but I remembered the plot quite vividly. What I didn't remember was that the gangster is played by William Shatner---too bad it wasn't from a season with Paris, that would've been perfect!

Today, I couldn't get through to Kat---her phone kept going immediately to voice mail---then she showed up on my doorstep a couple minutes after 12. We went out for lunch---I had my usual beef tips over noodles, but someone didn't drain the noodles very well---they were rather watery. Surprising, since that place has good food, overall.

Then we browsed the Sharing Center (thrift store), and for $1 I got a nice little trumpet-shaped lamp shade for my desk lamp. This is the little tan lamp that I got last fall at Asbury...it's had an old barrel-style shade on it, but this one is better in proportion to the size and shape of the lamp.

I'm off to Supper Club momentarily; hopefully no one is going to be too helpful---I'm feeling friskier today, but more likely to be bitchy than weepy, I think.

No Heroes for a while, but CSI: Miami looks intense, and I think I'll have to make a cougar icon if I'm going to comment....
