I just got off the phone after making an appointment to use the massage gift certificate I won at the Full Moon Ball (Thursday, 12:30). I'm hoping that'll work wonders on my screaming shoulders...and my blood pressure. I wheedled one of the med-weenies into checking it for me yesterday, and it was an unfortunate 144/103.

I never used to have high blood pressure. Back when I was a regular blood donor, it was always on the low side, like 120/78 and I figured I took after my mom. But of course, that's been a while. In the last decade alone, I've had two very stressful jobs, a stressful relationship, and now the situation with Kat. Arrrgh!

On a happier note, I have new shoes. It isn't frivolous; I can't wear open-toed shoes for dog training, and the knock-off Sketcher-y type flats I picked up after the mashed toe incident last year had a hole the size of a dime on the outer side of the right instep. These are also pseudo-Sketchers, but where the old ones were white vinyl with cranberry red trim, these are grey "suede" with peachy-orange contrast stitching. Oh, and did I mention they were on sale for $10?

I think they'll be a much more versatile neutral than the other ones. Next, I need to replace the brown suede loafers with the polka-dot bows. They're even older, and I noticed that in addition to an incipient hole (in the same place, that's what kills almost all of my shoes), they seem to be warped. They've had a hard life.

Got compliments on the skirt S gave me at Thanksgiving, which I wore yesterday to meet Kat at the doctor's. A lady in the waiting room admired the colors. I'd paired it with a short-sleeved sweater that picks up one of the greens, and black sandals since the weather was decent and open-toe wasn't an issue.

My office is coming along nicely. I know, it's been a couple days since I got the tree, but I'm trying not to make myself crazy---just clear some space and move stuff around so I can get to an outlet to plug it into. And then I'll sit down with a spool of wire and some tools and make a bunch of ornament hangers---yes, I could've picked up a package for 75 cents at Family Dollar, but I already have the wire, and this way, they'll be gold to match the ornaments.

Who, me, crazy? Whatever gave you that idea?

I just finished a voluntary contribution for [livejournal.com profile] yuletide: 4100 words, untweaked. This is the one I started late Friday/early Saturday. I had only a vague idea of where it was going when I started, but I've learned to trust my intuition in such cases---ideas unfolded as I wrote, and hopefully it'll get a good response.

This makes two voluntary, IE "I didn't sign up because none of my requests made the list" stories. Completely different fandoms. And I'm perusing my little list for more: I went through that monster Dear Santa post and made a list of the requests that struck me. I just need to decide Which One....
