Mwah-hah-ha-ha!

I just went spelunking amongst my beading drawers and containers, and it was an extremely satisfying experience. I've got plenty of heavy-gauge copper picture hanging wire for wrapping stones. I knew that going in. However, what I wanted/needed and thought I *didn't* have was lighter gauge stuff, which is good for adding beads to wrapped arrangements. I figured I'd be hitting up AI to see if she had any---these days, there isn't a craft store closer than Viera (10 miles, as opposed to right up the road at Byrd Plaza as was formerly the case), which makes finding supplies a bitch sometimes.*

I dug a box out of a drawer I hadn't been in in who nows how long, and found several spools of various sizes of copper, glory, glory Hallelujah! And of course, I went a little crazy digging out rocks---I couldn't wrap half of them if I was there for ten hours!---and my little crafter's tote now weighs about fifteen pounds. Although to be fair, at least six pounds of it can be attributed to the hammer and bar of tempered steel I use as an anvil. What? It's for flattening thick gauge wire for things like clasps.

Got an email from GK, who will be here solo next weekend. I'd be happier if I didn't know it's because of Kat's condition and the need to make arrangements. She arrives Saturday afternoon, departs Wednesday morning. Probably not a lot of fun and games in between, but I'll have funds next week, just in case.

Also kicked out chapter 1 of the crossover opus. (Working title: Identity Crisis.) This isn't exactly deathless prose; the total wordcount of both sections thus far is about 2200 words. But there's enough to establish the general mindfuckery that's going on, and if all goes well, maybe I can bridge the gap between chapters 1 and 4 within the next day or so. One thing experience has taught me, I don't do well when it comes to posting WIPs, so I need to get cracking, because I'd LIKE to start posting it on, what else?---Valentine's Day.

Now I really need to shower and wash my hair before bed, because if I wait until morning, it'll probably still be wet when I have to leave for church.

* While it's good for a lot of things, I don't consider WalMart a "craft" store as such. I was there yesterday looking for wire---they didn't have it in any size, except for things like wired florist tape, which is NOT suitable.

The same expedition that yielded yesterday's steak also brought forth some pork stew meat, which I have simmering in my smallest crockpot with some carmelized onions in a broth seasoned with ginger and white pepper. Served over rice, it should stretch to several meals, go me.

The wire-wrap class was fun. I made two pieces, one laboradorite and one carnelian, the latter still in progress. It was rather gratifying to have SA say how she could she why AI and I are hooked on wire-wrap and wow, we're so good! Yeah, that's how I ended up with a bagful of my own tools and wire and rocks and didn't need to use any of AI's. Finding that wire last night REALLY helped!

No appointments tomorrow; Kat doesn't go in til Friday morning. There's no dog training on the schedule til Thursday evening, although I'll need to make a few calls. Same stuff, different week.
