Snagged from [livejournal.com profile] karaokegal as a break from The Countdown:

Check my fandoms, my favorite characters, the pairings I like the most, my kinks, my fictional crushes, anything. Now, in a friendly and possibly teasing way, point out the obvious and not so obvious trends or fetishes you see in my tastes. Maybe I'm nuts for all vampire stories, or have a thing for men who smoke, or I'm fond for the tsundere archetype, or I'm into rival slash. Let's point out all of those you've noticed I tend to squee about during our friendship.

To relieve the tedium in Social Science Survey I, I took on the role of class interpreter. The instructor was the type who loved the sound of his own voice and drone on and on---I'd raise my hand several times during class and go, "So, what you're saying is---" and regurgitate a simplified version of his monologue that my glassy-eyed fellow students had a chance of understanding. Me, a patronizing suck-up? Yeah, maybe a little.

My favorite assignment in that class was when he asked us to pretend to be visitors from another planet observing Earthlings and commenting on our experiences. I did three VERY tongue-in-cheek pages, which analyzed everything from the components of a breakfast of eggs, bacon and toast, to slang, dating and mating. I really wish I still had a copy of it, it was fairly freakin' funny.

Usually I could ace any class I could write a term paper for, although not so much the one I did for...something management. The instructor gave us all random topics; I got Executive Compensation (IE, all the goodies that VIPs get above and beyond their salaries), and did what my English teachers told me to do, which was have an opinion and write to support it. Well, I thought some of those salaries were obscene, and stuff on top of that even more so. The instructor said if I gave my boss a paper like that, it would halt my career in its tracks. (Hmm, maybe it was the wrong major for me...?)

But I perservered.
