From a prompt at [livejournal.com profile] comment_fic:

It's almost midnight; Heaven only knows where Peter is tonight. The house is so empty now, with just her, and so quiet late at night. May turns on the television to try to push away some of the loneliness.

She pauses on a station showing a movie with that handsome young man---what *is* his name?---he always makes headlines in the supermarket tabloids, he was in that wonderful movie with Robert Redford.... He's what her mother would've called "easy on the eyes", so she lets the movie play and clips coupons from the paper and waits and worries about her nephew.

Gradually, she becomes more absorbed by the movie. The handsome young man is a bit of a troublemaker, but *so* charming! It's a bit violent in spots, and she winces, but doesn't change the channel.

Midnight comes and goes, and she hears a key in the lock and the front door opens and closes. She turns off the TV hastily before Peter can see what she's been diverting herself with.

He's limping as he walks in, but she doesn't mention that. "I hope you had a nice evening, dear," she says as cheerfully as she can. By now, she knows better than to expect an answer from him, and now she understands *why* she won't get an answer from him.

Everyone knows the first rule of Fight Club is, you never talk about Fight Club.
