I've been writing at a decent clip this week, so I'm happy about that. I'm less than happy dentally speaking. The molar (lost the crown and half the remaining tooth) has been abcessing off and on for months. Finally got to the point the other day where the headache was killing me, so I stayed up and called a Lyft at 6:30--the place opened at 6:45. It least it used to. When it was still in that building. (Although the online info still had it there.) And by then, the Lyft was long gone. So it ended up costing me $20 FOR NOTHING, FML.
This afternoon after I awoke, while I was waiting to hear back from GK, I decided to double-check the info on the alternate office I'd been given, thinking that I could then call the van service and schedule them for first thing Monday. This was about four in the afternoon...imagine my surprise when the nice young lady on the phone told me they were open til 7!
GK was pissed that I "sprang" this on her...even after I explained the sequence of events, she was still grumpy. I pointed out that I could wait until next week, but that since it was so late in the day, on Friday, the van service would be gone for the day, so the earliest I could get them would be Tuesday.
We went. Saying that the neighborhood is less than desirable is about the size of it...as bad or a little worse than where I was in Florida. But the clinic was clean, the receptionist is a total sweetheart, and I got a scrip for amoxicillin and an appointment for extraction next Tuesday. I also scribbled three steno pages of story while I was waiting, which reminded me of the old days at the medical billing office, when I spent my lunch break on the steps of the church across the street scribbling, rain or shine. Best memories of that place!
I've managed four out of five prompts this week--not a record, but certainly better than last week. What I really need to do is finish cranking out the gargantuan story that covers several prompts and gives a lot of important background to my take on the series(s). Currently, I'm on page 10, and I probably have at least 5-6 left to go! And I don't have but one guaranteed reader for this opus--fortunately, she's enthusiastic in her comments, which counts for a lot.
TTFN--love to all.
