BIG NEWS!!!
Aug. 10th, 2018 11:11 amI had my bariatric appointment yesterday...I tried to phone it in, I really did, but no--they had to check my weight to make sure I hadn't gained drastically (I haven't). So I went in. Weighed. Still 330 and change. Sat down with my counselor to chat for a bit. She gave me a new notebook to replace the one that went MIA when we cleaned the living room. (Just watch. It will now turn up in plain sight.) Then the scheduler came in and we sat and thrashed out dates for pre- and post-op appointments.
MY SURGERY DATE IS SEPTEMBER 26TH!!!!!!!
As GK commented when I told her, "Now you can start making plans.". Yes! Exactly right! I can start stockpiling protein drinks, which I didn't want to do until I knew something, because those suckers are pricey! And it's something to keep in mind today, when I make follow-up dental appointments. I want to get as many of the extractions out of the way as I can, because I will be restricted to acetaminophen ONLY after surgery (and for two weeks before--from 9/12 onward, essentially)
Afterward, I called the van service for pick-up, and waited. And waited. While I was waiting, I chatted up another gal who was also waiting for them. (She's on dialysis, which makes me feel rather better about my problems, at least some of which should be clearing up.) A bus arrived, and we hustled out there. I don't know who their dispatcher is, but it was there just for her, not me. The driver called in and said he'd take me (which was good, because I was woozy and hadn't brought my cane.
These are basically short buses with about two rows worth of seats taken up by a wheelchair lift on the passenger side. There were nine other passengers packed into it (the most I've ever seen on one bus!), including my new friend Darcy, so I had a rather long ride before I got home. They all lived way the hell out in the North Valley, so I literally spent an hour on the bus--but it was okay.
I'm on the schedule!, I kept thinking. It was like being high. Like I'd been all tensed up and hadn't even realized it. I came home, lay down, and slept for six solid hours. Bliss!
So one of the things I get to do over the weekend and this upcoming week is, I need to go through my clothes--ALL my clothes. I need to set aside a month's worth of summer clothes, then get the rest out of here (SS is having a yard sale next weekend). And a fairly limited number of winter items, because by December, I expect to be 40-50 pounds lighter. I still have a few things left from the last time I was that size (2014), but I foresee a lot of thrifting in my future!
It's been a good week writing, but I will say, one of the things I'm REALLY looking forward to is getting down to a lower weight so I can invest in a decent office chair. I tend to kill the pneumatic height setting on them, leaving me practically squatting on the ground. The one I'm in now is fairly solid, but has bugger-all in the way of back support! It's my hope to take advantage of Black Friday and get a really good chair that will last.
Love to all!
