Giving thanks
Nov. 22nd, 2018 04:45 pm Feasting is out this year. Still, I think I'm thankful for the surgery. Even though my results haven't been nearly as spectacular as I expected, I'm feeling better than I have in a long time.. Some of that may be because I'm off of most of the meds; NOT being dizzy is wonderful. I hadn't realized how much I'd accepted that as "normal" until it went away.
I'm thankful for GK. Yes, she drives me to shrieking frenzy on a regular basis (and I suspect the reverse is true), but this afternoon, she brought me a plate of Thanksgiving dinner, assorted acquisitions (including a great brown velvet hat) and last night, she shopped around and got me a Black Friday deal on an instant pot cooker. Since they spent the holidays in NZ last year, she's been saying how great it was not to be surrounded by commercialized Christmas, and this year, she's not going to go overboard, etc. Which, reading between the lines, means expect nothing.
However, she's not deducting from what I owe her for the plumbing repayments in December...instead, she's letting me keep that $100--most of which just went for the instant pot, which is something I've been wanting. Of course, then I have to l learn to use the darn thing--but I'm looking forward to being able to tenderize economy cuts of meat, roast things in a timely manner,...Martha Stewart did a demonstration of Colbert a few weeks ago and make it look really easy.
Because her son has a college email account, they have Amazon Prime benefits, so I handed over an Amazon GC I've been hanging onto for dear life and she's ordering the forthcoming CJ Cherryh, "Alliance Rising", out in January. And, happily, they've got it steeply discounted--it's $17.10 instead of $26!
I'm thankful for all you you, my friends. I'm thankful for my home, food to eat, clothes to wear. I'm thankful for my books, my devices, my stuff. I'm thankful for a lot of frivolous things: movies, TV, assorted pretty people. I'm thankful for serious things: the midterm results, the fact that we aren't at war (yet). I'm very thankful that I'm beginning to feel more energy....in addition to not being constantly dizzy, I can stand longer and do things like cook, do dishes, do laundry. Things that normal people do that were such a huge effort for me. Hopefully, I can get a referral for physical therapy next month from Dr. Bitch; that would really help a lot.
I hope everyone is having a blessed and happy day. Love to all.
