It's been a rather busy week.. Last Sunday, I connected with LL and we spent the afternoon/evening out and about. Visited one thrift shop, then I bribed her with dinner at Cracker Barrel and she came home with me and we got cracking on my linen closet.

Said linen closet has been in the works for months, at least since December, when GK told me to empty it out so we could get in there to remove the shelf and clothes rod, which turned out to need some kind of weird drill bit peculiar to mobile homes. As you can see, the project then languished. However, LL had a suitable bit, went and got it and her drill and yanked that shit out of there.

Next step was to get her and GK here at the same time (Wednesday afternoon)--because when GK and I try to do that kind of thing together, things always start getting snarky. Also on the 'Git 'R Done" list was hanging brackets so the bedroom closet could get curtains to cloak my wardrobe. Anyway, we needed shelf pegs, shelf boards, and screws to mount the curtain brackets with (I have the brackets) and a length of PVC to serve as a curtain rod.

So Wednesday afternoon, after installing the side boards in the closet, the three of us went to Home Depot and shopped. (GK ended up getting the wood at Lowes, because HD didn't have anything wide enough.) I'm thrilled to report that the bones of the linen closet are in place! I have a total of five shelves, which should be ample once I've sorted through all my linens. (Haven't done that yet; it's waiting for Morther's Day and floral deliveries to conclude.) The brackets aren't done at all--fucking cheap-ass trailer doesn't use regular drywall, it's some super thin particleboard shit that we're having a bitch of a time finding suitable fasteners for. I do NOT want the damn thing ripping off the wall if I tug on the curtain too hard! But at least now I have the PVC.

I'm very happy about the linen closet. Yes, sorting through numerous stashes of towels, linens pillows, etc. is going to be a major project, but then it'll all be in one place and not clogging up my bedroom, the living room, the laundry cabinets, and everywhere else. I'm a single person, I don't need two dozen towels. Or six comforters. Or an assortment of mismatched sheets. I'm going to be able to open the door and see what I have, all of it in one place--what a thrill!

Got in from deliveries a little bit ago and want to catch a tiny nap before ASFS. Sooo tired! Didn't get a lot of sleep last night, but it earned my $40, which is a big deal to me. While we were running around, we detoured through the Savers thrift on the other side of town...GK treated me to two cute tops and a dress, which was sweet of her. One top is a teal tank with sequin icicles, the other is a black velvet camisole with burnout designs--I have a jacket it'll be perfect with. The dress is a sleeveless A-line with an Empire waist in an abstract pattern...I've been dying for something 'new' for summer, and it's perfect.

I'd write more, but I'm falling asleep over the keyboard. Happy Mother's Day to all you mothers out there, and love to all!
