Looks like we're in for nasty weather

Right now, right this very minute, I'm supposed to be sitting in a training class in Melbourne. And, obviously, I'm not. Because TS Fay has caused toranado watches til 4 PM, and is supposed to be intensifying throughout the evening, and if driving down there would be bad, driving back through it at midnight would be downright idiotic. So I'm not, even though I'm liable to catch hell for it.

Can they fire me for having a sense of self-preservation? We'll see!

They shouldn't be able to, but from what you've said about them... Let's put it this way, I wouldn't bet on it.

On the positive side, technically I still have personal time remaining on my schedule and theoretically, if they DID fire me, I would be able to get unemployment compensation.

Hon, I hope decent sense prevails and no shite rains down on you for not showing up.

Me, too, especially since this was training for a new partner, and Uber-Boss has gotten snarky for less.

Considering the pictures on the weather channel of Melbourne right now, they really should have other things on their minds than who didn't show up for training. Be safe!!

Probably from our local affiliate station; the flag standing straight out from the flagpole and palm trees looking like berserk pom-poms? Uh-huh. I'm very glad I didn't have to drive home in this murk at midnight!

With the layout of my home, I've often cheerfully misquoted that one---there IS a bathroom on the right as you go down the hall!

I used to work at a gas station that had a bathroom on the right so I used to sing under my breath, "don't smoke around the pumps, cause it's bound to take your life, there's a bathroom on the right..." some fools actually did smoke around the pumps and i had to keep telling them to stop it.
