I guess I'll be back at work tomorrow. All the rain seems to be north of us---[livejournal.com profile] pwcorgigirl, you may get some rain out of this system yet---and I can't justify NOT going in. Especially since it's payday.

Two days left in this work-week, next week is normal, the following week I house-sit for the C's, and then I have a 4-day weekend in honor of my birthday. I don't think this is a good sign, that I think of my life in terms of days off....

Believe it or not, it is STILL raining. There have been a few lulls, but for the most part, it's been wet or wetter. Melbourne has had, according to the local news, about 18", our count is closer to 10", but holy crap, THAT'S ENOUGH!!!

I got online this evening and checked the company website for the scheduling updates---not only did I NOT get dinged for Tuesday, it's listed as an approved absence. (Which unfortunately comes out of my vacation time, but I'm gonna do a total Scarlett O'Hara on that issue.) We wouldn't've had that problem if I were still doing work from home!

Tomorrow, it's already been announced that our local schools will be closed, ditto government offices, and if the weather is as crappy as it is right now...well, again---we'll see!

The weather outside is still ick. Fay is hovering; we've been getting slammed all day---our county in particular, lucky us. There's flooding in some areas, a suspected tornado down at the south end of the county (where a bunch of dumbasses got arrested for trying to scavenge loose aluminum siding/roofs), concerns about beach erosion---without being cynical, it's the usual Florida nastiness. The nice thing, if I can have a moment of optimism, is that it's cooled things down nicely. The temp is in the lower 70s, and is expected to be in the low-to-mid 80s tomorrow. (Still icky, but you can't have everything!)

Right now, right this very minute, I'm supposed to be sitting in a training class in Melbourne. And, obviously, I'm not. Because TS Fay has caused toranado watches til 4 PM, and is supposed to be intensifying throughout the evening, and if driving down there would be bad, driving back through it at midnight would be downright idiotic. So I'm not, even though I'm liable to catch hell for it.

Can they fire me for having a sense of self-preservation? We'll see!
