The justice system has called on my services three times. I've been on grand jury, in which there is no time for boredom because they ran a dozen potential cases through the room every day. And I was called and struck from a murder trial once, much to my relief, and excused the last time because I was sick enough to be in the hospital.
I'm going to pack a tote bag with a book, a note pad and pen, a can of soda, and a tennis ball for breaking any back spasms if I get a lousy chair. I may find some crossword puzzles and print them out tonight.
*edited to add: I did all I could last week to get The Padre ready. I will go into the office for about 45 minutes every morning to deal with the mail and write out a few checks to pay the bills, but he is basically on his own. It could get pretty scary!
