*I* think the interview went well, but that means sweet fuck-all, because that's what I thought with the phone bank job. With this one, though, there's a full-time and two part-time jobs available, so my odds are better. The guy I talked to said of 8 people who had interviews lined up today, 6 of them cancelled. I, on the other hand, arrived 25 minutes early (thinking there would probably be an application or something they'd want), and went right in and did my damnedest to sparkle.

I was already in a good mood going in there, because I got an e-mail from GK, who got Entertainment Weekly with Hugh Laurie on the cover (must be next week's, since it's someone else on the newstands) and wanted to know if I'd like it when she was through. (YES!!!) And a hot guy in a big blue truck honked and waved and flirted with me, so I felt pretty sharp. For the record, I was wearing my new khaki shirt with my animal print skirt and my necklace with the red jasper heart.

Yes, my spelling is good, yes, my grammar is good, no, I most emphatically am not afraid of computers. I give good phone, but if I have to multi-task more than three things at once, my brain melts. And (a question I've *never* been asked before), three bands I listen to: Flogging Molly, Caviar, and the Atomic Fireballs---I suppose that's to make sure I'm not going to bitch about loud music because I'm an old lady.

Afterward, since I was in the neighborhood, I wandered over to Schnauzerland, where S. showed me Eddie Izzard: Dressed to Kill, which I hadn't seen and completely adored.) Loved his outfit! I know women who don't wear women's clothing as well as he does. I particularly admired the way he balanced those patent-pleather pants with the glitzy chigosan top...either of those items could've been a disaster, but he balanced them very effectively. That, plus those four-inch platforms gave him a very nice line.

Is it pathetic that I wish I could get him to give me make-up tips? I felt very proud of myself for remembering to put on lipstick before going in to the interview, and that was just a quick swipe of rose and away I went...I am NOT a girly-girl. I mean, I like skirts and dresses, and wear them more often than pants, truth be told. I *love* jewelry---if it's shiny, I'm drooling over it. But cosmetics? Er...once in a great while, I'll draw my lips on, or dust on a bit of blush. I've been known to manicure my nails---which are homegrown, not store-bought---but it's infrequent and sporadic. It's not on any part of my mental checklist.

Following Eddie, you see, I tapped into BBC America, where they were showing the making of Sharpe's Challenge, and 45 minutes of lusting over Sean Bean ensued. Which sort of begs the question, what do I have to do to attract a yummy guy who *isn't* in a big blue truck two lanes away and travelling at a forty-five degree angle to my trajectory?

House fans will laugh: S., who is *notoriously* media-oblivious says she's only seen a few minutes of the show. "People were arguing," was her summary. (And what *else* is new?!)

As for make-up, I know what you mean... The most I ever wear --at least when I'm not in costume for something, or trying to look skanky --is mascara, and that's 'cause you can't see my eyelashes otherwise. Which is freaky. So, yeah, the only make-up I wear is that which is absolutely necessary.

And Eddie Izzard is awesome.

I love Clancy, yes, I do, but I don't have any icons of him. Yet. That's Sean Bean, and it's a frame from "Equilibrium", a really fun, flawed movie. (As is this icon.)

I've got fingers and toes crossed for the job to work out.

It's only been recently that I discovered Eddie Izzard, and not only is he incredibly funny, but he looks exactly like my late Aunt Barbara. It's really spooky!

She always dressed with great style and did make-up and hair very well, whereas I'm now 47 and still trying to learn how to put on eyeliner. (My glasses are so strong a person with normal vision could look through them and see Jupiter, so mascara and now eyeliner are necessary if I'm to have any features at all behind the lenses.)

LOL! That's amusing, since the whole time we were watching it, S. kept saying how much Eddie reminded her of her late mother. I had to agree, although Nancy tended toward brighter blue eye shadow. My take was, S's mom with a smidgen of Tim Curry on the side.

I quite understand your dilemma--my own ocular prescription is the same, with the addition of massive astigmatism. My answer was, "Oh, nuts--I'll just get some cute frames." I have perfectly ordinary--albeit nearsighted grey eyes, nothing that warrant extraordinary effort.

Thanks for the mojo. I'm on pins and needles myself.

Linky to upload of Hugh et al. in EW for your enjoyment. Check out the photoshopping job on Cuddy!

Attracting men: jasper is a good start. Worked a treat for a friend of mine. Mind you, he carried his in his trouser pocket, right next to that chakra. :-) But omigod did it work for him. (Erm. Not, I hasten to add, with me!)

*fingers crossed for good news on Tuesday*

I'm hoping for a job that *isn't* going to have me weighed down with hematite and onyx like the last one. Way too much negativity, and there's a limit to how much of that sh*t you can put up with.

I've got two other projects with jasper in the works--one is another heart, which I may or may not keep, depending on whether any ca$h is forthcoming. The other is a dragonfly pendant. (I have an affinity for dragonflies, and have since before they became quite so ubiquitous.) I also have some red jasper chips that I'm going to string it with.

LOL! Yep, Clancy's another one I'd probably have to fight you for and wind up sharing with you. He's awesome.

Right?! Although I think Eddie is more restrained when it comes to blue eye shadow.
