There's no place like home---!

Got a call from PJ literally two minutes after turning my alarm off. (8:02 AM) Alarming news: They were off the boat, on the road, and expected to be home by noon. Going by what I know of cruises, I hadn't even expected them to be off the frackin' boat before 11.

That blew my plan of going calmly to church and coming back to the house to pack right out of the water. And unfortunately, I *couldn't* skip church, because PJ had printed out the programs for this week and entrusted them to me to deliver.

Had a very Ogden Nash morning: "When in danger or in doubt, run in circles, scream and shout"... Add to that hospitality---I'd made a special trip to the price club on Saturday so I could do something nice: I planned tortellini salad with genoa salami, stuffed mushrooms, ruggala and grapes for dessert. Alas, packing took all my cooking time; I delivered the desserts---stressed spelled backward!---and dashed into WalMart on the way there.

Got to church and discovered that I was WRONG, that someone else was down for hospitality, although I think the fresh fried chicken was an improvement over cole slaw and cookies. (I have always thought cole slaw is a terrible thing to do to defenseless cabbage; if an atrocity is going to be committed on that veg, I much prefer sauerkraut.)

I went back afterward; the C's were back. I snagged my fridge stuff and departed. I'll have to got ahold of them, as I forgot my Tracfone charger and a loaf of bread, plus I need to let them know I have a package of fabric swatches coming. Honestly, when you place an order for something on Saturday, you except it to be shipped Monday, don't you? Certainly before Wednesday. Sheesh.

In good news---yes, there is some!---my glasses arrived Friday, and I zoomed up there because scary or no, I couldn't stand to wait two more days. (I would've posted before this, but the internet was out over at The Peaceable Kingdom. Really frackin' annoying.) They look good, and I've gotten used to the glass-block effect at the sides---they're considerably thicker than my old pair. And heavier---I'm pushing them back up on my nose every 47 seconds or so. I'll get some pix for y'all as soon as I have decent light.

Thinking that I was going to the theater on Saturday---postponed til next week at least, because J couldn't get tickets---I visited Fashion Bug's clearance racks Friday after grabbing my glasses and got a wee bit carried away: I got TWO new dresses. Both are black and white. One's short-sleeved, the other long. The short-sleeved one is a 3x microfiber jersey in an all-over print. The long-sleeved one...okay, I probably didn't really NEED a long-sleeved cotton jersey dress, this being Florida. But it's divine! The bodice is a print, the bottom two-thirds is solid black, and OMG, it does fab things for my figure and it's a size 24!!! The last time I could get into a 24, Reagan was leaving the White House. I am stoked.

More good news: The other stuff I'd ordered arrived on Saturday---both books and the LUSHness. Still reading Stephen King, so I haven't dug into the books yet, but I enjoyed a shower with my sugar scrub and NEW shampoo.

When I got home this afternoon, I had half a nap---I can tell I'm back in Home-Sweet-Hell, because They were out there being noisy---before the Super Bowl. (I only watch it for the commercials. Loved Wego, the Ferris Bueller spoof and Pepsi for Everyone. Could've done without Seinfield, especially twice over.) Anyway, between the naplet and kickoff, I did a mad thing: I got on my scale.

Dedicated dieters are probably boggling already, because as we all know, no one weighs during the afternoon. After having had lunch. Wearing clothes and not taking off one's cell phone. What was I thinking?!?! I don't know, but I'm down about four pounds from where I was before I left. Woohoo!

Supposedly my fence gets installed tomorrow. Fingers crossed!

Yay for weight loss and new gorgeous gowns!! Me likey! Plus the glasses, yes, the glasses. You must be so relieved about that!!

[identity profile] vanillafluffy.livejournal.com 2012-02-06 04:32 pm (UTC)(link)
Very happy about the glasses. Now that I have them, I'm going to get the new scrip put in my old frames so I'll have a back-up pair. I may also give in and get reading glasses, and maybe sunglasses, because these are way too thick to attach clip-ons to.

I did Snoopy dances when I got on the scale this morning. It's ridiculous to get so excited about a mere number, but I did! I'm not trying to be a supermodel or anything---I'm a little past that!---but I'll be very happy when I'm out of the "morbidly obese" category and am down to just plain FAT.

Oh, I don't know, I have a few cole slaw recipes that seem to be popular...

I adore Lush, though I had to stop buying it as I am getting obsessive these days about toxins in my cosmetics. LUSH is better than most companies, but I'd still love them to stop using parabens. phthalates (sp?) and such. The Big Blue bath bomb was my fave, and I'm almost tempted to buy a few and use them anyways. *resists*

And yays for the poundage lost. I am happy to be back at my pre-pregnancy weight, that's for sure!

I adore LUSH solid shampoos, New in particular. It lasts and lasts (unless you let it sit in a puddle of water---NOT good). I'd probably try more of their products, but until I can find a tub that clears my hips and/or has a grab-bar, bombs aren't gonna do me any good. Shower stuff, tho', is still primo.

Congrats on getting back down to your original weight, I understand that's very difficult.

Ah yes, I am fascinated by their solid shampoo....though for the record I haven't used ANY shampoos regularly in years...I 'wash' with conditioner, odd as that may sound. Very necessary for a curly girl, however.

Congrats on getting back down to your original weight, I understand that's very difficult.

Thank you! It probably helped that I didn't gain that much (relatively, anyways) during pregnancy. Add hauling 30 pounds of toddler everywhere, walking part-way to work, and working out 2x a week, and I was pretty sure I'd eventually get all the weight off.

Also Starhubby needs to lose weight himself, and so we are not snacking so much at night, which I'm sure also helped/ will help.

Was with conditioner? Wow, I'm that much closer to having heard everything. I usually eschew conditioner. If I did it your way, my hair would be a limp mess after the first week. I have a fairly oily scalp.

LOL! It's recommended for people with curly hair, as shampoo (particularly the sulfate-laden stuff) really dries hair out.

There is indeed an adjustment period. *nods* But once your sebum isn't being stripped away every time you shampoo, then it stops overproducing and levels out...it does take a week or two to settle down, though.

Never tried the Lush products. My former employer now has a business called Beach Organics~ all natural and organic products. Big price tag, though, so I've never tried them , either.
Original weight~~ what's that? I've yo-yoed so many times that I don't even know what my original weight was!! ha ha

[identity profile] vanillafluffy.livejournal.com 2012-02-07 04:57 am (UTC)(link)
Ever notice how the "better" stuff is always more expensive? Like, why do low sodium products cost more? Why does it add to the price NOT to add salt?

Original weight meaning pre-pregnancy weight of the gal who posted. Me, I know what you mean about ups and downs. My all-time high is about 100 pounds ago, my average for the last 10/15 year is more like 55-60 pounds ago, but right now, as long as it begins with a "2", I'm happy. Although another 20 pounds down and I'll squeak out of the "morbidly obese" category.

I can't fathom how someone could pair coleslaw with cookies .

This made me laugh/snort! Atrocity, indeed. Then again, I sometimes feel that way about cabbage, itself!

Also? Your post is made of WIN -- weight loss, awesome outfits, new glasses -- YAY!!! (oh, and I always used to have my glasses rounded at the corners, to eliminate that glass-block effect).

Yeah, I'm going to get the new scrip set into my old cat's-eye frames for that reason. And may end up with a pair of John Lennon glasses for readers or sunglasses.
