Succe$$

According to IMDb, JDM is up 521% in popularity this week. That's rather impressive, since most of the articles I've seen are insinuating that "The Losers" are, well, losers. They're *only* 4th in box office behind a kiddy movie and a couple of rom-coms.

My take on it? The guys are either taking their kids to the dragon movie or their dates to the chick flicks, but just wait til "The Losers" make it to DVD---those guys are gonna go snag it like crazy.

Heck, I think there's a pretty good chance that it'll be out on DVD before my birthday. The guys aren't the only ones....

Fluffy again!

After a matinee of "The Losers", I detoured over to my stylist and got my hair whacked back to manageable. It's short, cute, manageable and fluffy. It is made of win. See?

It's so great to have a digital camera so I can post stuff like this! Although really, I need some foundation powder; I'm unbecomingly shiny.

"The Losers" also rocks very hard, but we'll discuss that later. Right now, I need to eat, shower, go to WalMart and be at the church by 6:30.

Desktop Meme

Ganked from [livejournal.com profile] karaokegal
1. Anyone who looks at this entry has to post this meme and their current wallpaper at their LiveJournal.*
2. Explain in five sentences why you're using that wallpaper!
3. Don't change your wallpaper before doing this! The point is to see what you had on.

The source: It's a mock-motivational banner of Jeffrey Dean Morgan's character from Watchmen (Now out on DVD!) created by [livejournal.com profile] dodger_winslow.

I've had a "thing" for JDM for a long time now, so that's one good reason for it to be up there. Of course, he's not nearly as scenic here as he is in RL.

(For comparative purposes: Seriously gorgeous.)

The other reason is the sentiment (or lack thereof). Here I am, late 40s, getting to the point where things are not what they were: skin texture is changing, lines are showing up and becoming more defined, joints hurt when I move wrong...all that. But do I really want to kick the bucket now while I can still pass myself off as 30-something? Nah, not so much. Which means steeling myself to the fact that where I am right now is probably the best I'm going to be from now til---whenever. I'm not in an income bracket that would allow me to "have a little work done"---I'll be doing good to afford false teeth---so I need to learn to accept the things I cannot change. Without whimpering, without blowing my paycheck on "anti-aging" creams---I'd need a freaking bathtub full---realizing the wrinkles and wobbly bits are the price I pay for surviving.

Wednesday

One WIP: Sylar/Danko slashtastic skullfuck pr0n.
One pr0n warming up in the on deck circle: Wild, Wild West meets Torchwood (Thank [livejournal.com profile] karaokegal for the working title: The Night of the Time Agent.)
One plot bunny I am trying to shoot dead, but it's dancing around laughing at me: What would happen if the Winchesters and the Dukes swapped cars...?*

I spent a chunk of the afternoon/evening clearing things off my TiVo---I am getting better at the video equivalent of "catch and release"---call it "watch and release". There's fresh SPN and a new Harper's Island tomorrow. Have I mentioned how much I'm loving Harper's so far? Brilliant thinky-thoughts by dodger_winslow under the cut....

I have this coming Saturday off, and I'm coordinating a canasta night at Schnauzerland, woohoo. How about it, [livejournal.com profile] sbjb?

And hey, let's hear it for the birthday boy!

The reviews are in! (Well, one anyway....)

Got my first review for "Finish" (The Watchmen) over at the Pit of Voles. It said in part:

Holy Jesus in a pie tin, that was AWESOME. Ajkshd- ksjdnfksjr- THERE ARE NO WORDS.

This is seriously made of pure win. You see all these legacy fics, with people taking up the mantle of a dead character, but THIS, THIS is the one that WORKS.

I'm not quoting the whole thing because there are plot spoilers, but since I can count on one hand the number of times I've gotten a keyboard-smash in a review...this makes me happy.

JDM news

Okay, so I'm not the first person to share the news . But I'm still happy to announce that Mr Sex On Legs has a new movie in the works. And going by the summary, yeah, I'm pretty sure he's gonna DIE. Again. As usual. But probably not til the end, if it's the kind of pic I think it is. Anybody want to place a bet as to HOW he'll get ganked this time?

Hey, at least he's working!

Thursday recap

Training yesterday was excellent. Of all the partner reps who come galloping in from time to time, Guido from Brand X is my favorite. (No, that's not really his name, but confidentiality is what it is.) I first met Guido my first week on the job, where I was hustled into his training class since I was going into apparel. I ended up sitting right next to him, and he was very easy-going and helped calm my jitters.

Fast-forward one year and eleven months, and we're on a first-name basis, and he likes me. He's commented about how good I sound on the phone, and yesterday during training, there were four or five rookies who were there for the first time...Guido was talking about how important it is to make a connection with the customer, and he said, "Vanillafluffy is wonderful at that, you can always hear her personality coming through." Made me blush, he did....

I also won a free pair of jeans in a drawing...the trouble being, we don't have a damn thing in my size---so someone is liable to get a really nice Xmas present.

ExpandNow for the important stuff. Comments on SPN 4.3 )

Saturday

09:35AM - I wake up.

09:45AM - I call garage. No answer.

09:48AM - I call [livejournal.com profile] missybrat, arrange to got to Melbourne to pick up/cash my check.

10:35AM - Mb arrives, we go to Melbourne

11:04AM - I take possession of my check. Call the garage again---no answer---leave message. Discover the branch of my bank closest to work doesn't have Saturday morning hours, unlike the branch closest to my house.

11:28AM - Cash check at Publix. (I wish now I'd picked up a few things while I was in there.)

12:20PM - Hit Woody's BBQ for lunch. Starving. Introduce Mb to their corn nuggets, heh heh. We both have the lunch combo and we both select sausage and spare ribs. Yummy!

01:45PM - Try calling garage again, still no answer.

02:20PM - Zoom up to garage, to discover no one there, no sign my car has moved since being off-loaded from tow truck. (Am pissed.)

02:57PM - Mb delivers me to work. (On the way from Sharpes to Melbourne, I enlighten her on why repeated viewings of the trailer for The Accidental Husband can lead to the overuse of the word "yummy". This includes rhapsodizing about JDM, aka "Sex on Legs". This definitely helps cheer me up.)

03:02PM - I log in. CSR-type shit ensues for the next few hours, blah, blah, blah.

11:31PM - Mb and her SO pick me up and deliver me home.

And that was my Saturday...which is, thank God, my Friday.
