Work, the Universe, and Everything

The Universe was kind to me yesterday. It was a busy day, but thankfully, I didn't get any bat-shit crazy callers to deal with. No huge orders, but back-to-school is ongoing, so my numbers ought to be decent.
Got several compliments, both personal and professional. I was dressed formally---black and white lace-trimmed top, black tulip skirt, black patent leather shoes with kitten heels---and although it's nothing I haven't worn before, several people gave good feedback on it. Also heard from one of the Brand Specialists about a call of mine they'd played for a partner. Apparently, I'd explained to a caller that with overnite shipping, it's common for the tracking not to be updated until after the package has actually been delivered. This was news to them. *eyeroll*
Am checking the updates on Hanna compulsively. Ordinarily, I wouldn't get that tense about it, but since I'm supposed to to pet-sitting for the C's next week, I'm concerned. They live on a barrier island with a canal in their backyard. Meaning I could be looking forward to evacuating. That would have to be to the church, because my place? No way is it pet-proof.
And Christo, I can NOT afford to take any more time off from work! Granted, it turned out that last week wasn't counted against my adherance because of blanket amnesty on account of the storm, but I still don't get paid for it.
More as it happens....
