vanillafluffyPer GK, Kat was admitted for observation and testing last night. It seems pretty clear that she's not going to be flying back tomorrow. I've been over to her place---the cats are alive and fed and I updated her neighbor, who's going to continue to look in on them.
I'm operating in a state of fugue. Thirty years of memories are at odds with the last year or so, and especially the last couple of months. The woman who taught me to drive a stick, who wrote in to the newspaper to correct the Roman numerals they used to advertise a sale, my long-standing lunch date who I could talk with for hours---that lady is gone. Right now in Oklahoma, there's a woman with her DNA and her fingerprints, but that's not HER. Wanting her to remain, like that, is selfishness on my part, and futile.
Cherish your loved ones, my friends. Not just because it's "Christmas time", but because you just don't know when time's up. Their time, or yours....
