What with Daylight Savings Time and all, I'm losing an hour of my weekend, but in the other 47 hours, I want to get a lot done. (Which may or may not happen...I *always* have big plans for accomplishing things when I'm stuck and work and can't possibly do any of them.) I need to do laundry, dishes and some recycling, clean out my car, pay bills and write something! That's the bare minimum.

I also need to wash my hair so it'll be clean for church in the morning, decide what I'm going to wear, and at some point (as soon as the kitchen is functional again) pop that brisket into the slow-cooker for din-din. Mmmm, corned beef---it's what's for dinner!

Bleah. I hate Daylight Savings Time. It's not nice to mess with Mother Nature.

My big fit of cleaning was yesterday, when I vacuumed, mopped, tidied the house, organized the pantry, washed two windows inside and out and scrubbed various things.

It feels weird to still have daylight at 7:30 PM...even though I'm usually chained to a computer at that hour and in no position to observe that kind of thing.

I am a sloth and a slob...I need a visit from Clean Sweep, but I need them to stay for a whole week and do the entire house....

I've lately started obsessively watching "How Clean is Your House?" on BBC America. It's rather horrifying and highly motivational to have people run a bacterial analysis on the filth they find in kitchens.

We're tidy, organized people but my guys do not clean at all. To keep from being overwhelmed, I decided about ten days ago that every day I'd clean at least one six-foot zone outside my usual clean-and-tidy as I go. Some days I do as many as four or five, and it takes a few minutes to about ten minutes to do a zone.

It's really starting to pay off without leaving me wrecked by exhaustion. True, at the moment, only the windows on one side of the house have been washed, but what law says they all have to be cleaned on the same day? Like I'm going to be able to see out of all of them at once?

You just put your finger on it---I seldom do this. (I think I listed that as my Worst Habit on that meme the other day.) I am woefully undomestic.

What do you do with the brisket in the slow cooker? Any spices or juices? I have a slow-cooker and think corned beef sounds wonderful cooked that way.

I tend to be fairly no-frills about the process. I dump it in there with a jar of sauerkraut, pour a bottle of beer over it, and let it do its thing.

I haven't even gotten that far. Between insomnia and the time-change, I overslept and missed church---the only constructive things I've done today were to fill a sack full of aluminum cans to recycle and move a dead chair out of my office. (I've also consumed about a quart of Moose Tracks ice cream, but I don't consider that constructive.)
