Car is dead. Got an estimate from my guy, whom I trust. He enumerated various things wrong wih It would have been cheaper to replace the motor, except I don't have a spare $750.

Gee, I wish I hadn't just paid Geico. Now I get to try to get it refunded, which I'm sure they aren't going to be too happy about. And I'm going to see if I can turn my tags in an get anything back for the unused part of the year...only a few months, but every little bit helps.

On the other hand, sometimes it's nice to have a car. *glares at subway, which died TWICE last week. Fuckers*

My oldest son has a pick-up truck for sale but it has issues and he is asking $900.

If the car is de-registered, then you should be able to get the insurance payment back pretty quickly. Can you get anything for the car for scrap or selling it for parts?

$300 for scrap, minus $60 for towing, which I wasn't informed of in advance or I'd've gotten Geico to do it.

I got that car from HWSNBN's mom---his sis got a newer car, and the dealership wouldn't give them much for tradein, so they gave it to me. Almost exactly ten years ago, and it gave me relatively few problems. Ugly as hell, but a real champ.
