Technically, it's no longer Friday, but with my wonky sleep schedule, it still FEELS like Friday. Which has been pretty good, actually. Got up at Fuck Me O'Clock on two hours sleep to go to an estate sale with GK and SS. It was cold and windy--we've had lovely spring-like weather for several weeks, but this morning temps hovered around 30F and according to the weatherman on Channel 13 tonight, it never got out of the 40s. Do not like!

The sale was waaay out on the northwest side of town. The trouble was it was, as most of these sales are, "Enter through the garage", and for safety reasons, the garage/house door stays open. There was also quite a bit of product out in the backyard, so the sliding glass door was also left open. This created a wind-tunnel effect, and I felt like my eyeballs had frostbite. I consider myself fairly cold-hardy--the rest of me was okay, but waiting for GK the last 20 minutes or so, I just sat there and kept my eyes shut to try and thaw them out.

However, the pickings were excellent! The biggest score was a wall clock for my bathroom, because I *don't* always take my phone or tablet in with me, and I hate not being able to tell the time at a glance. I'd seen the picture of it online, and drooled. It's larger than I thought, but it works. GK looked the brand up online, and determined that it was a pretty good deal--which made up for the fact that pretty much everything else I'd seen in the pix they posted was severely out of my price range, from the garden bench to the Breyer horses. I *did* indulge in a nice nutcracker for my Christmas display, and at the last minute, I found an art photo** that's going to be great in my office. All told, I spent $34, which is a lot, for me, but I had a good time, regardless.

Also, to my surprised delight, GK brought back a few goodies for me from a rummage sale she attended last week in San Diego (visiting her mother-in-law AND visiting the college Son #2 will be attending this fall). She got me a Kipling bag, solid black and very sturdy, and the twin to the pillow I got at IKEA back in 2013. The pattern is black and white, kind of an optical illusion--yes, I was planning my black and whitebedroom back that far--even farther, truth be told!--so I'm delighted to have a matched pair of them.

I ate brunch--so I could take my meds--and slept for a few hours. Watched the usual Friday night TV lineup on CBS, and puttered around a bit assimilating my newest acquisitions. I had to shift artwork around in the bathroom and hammer in a heavy-duty hook before I could hang the clock, but that didn't take too long. I need to get a frame for "Blue"--I have a bunch of artwork I need to find frames for, like that Flash Gordon poster. I also need a length of pipe to use as a curtain rod for my closet, to say nothing of the curtain I need. I do, however, have the brackets I need.

I swear to you all that I'll post bedroom pix as soon as I get the damn curtains up--it's looking sort of rustic-bohemian--then there's my closet gaping with shelves full of linens and a jumble of clothes from side to side. It's so close to being camera-ready, but the closet just bugs the shit out of me. The bathroom needs to be painted; it's the last room in the house with that disgusting printed drywall. Still, even unpainted it's tidy enough that I wouldn't mind snapping pix...just as soon as I get the laundry out of the sink. It's surprising how much larger it seems without the scale in there!

Maybe I'll go get some more sleep now. TTFN....

** It's 12"x 18". A handwritten scrawl on the back identifies it as "Blue". It looks over a man's shoulder as he drives a car at night. It's a three-quarter portrait of his back--we see His sinewy right hand on the steering wheel, a crescent of eyebrow, a hint of high cheekbones, the curve of his right ear, and a very good look at his dark hair, cut in a 50's-looking style. His blue denim jacket is classic, and the whole picture has an indigo tinge to it.

I snatched it up (for a mere $2) for my office, which in addition to my horse motif, also has my movie memorabilia and my travel section--I think "Blue" will bridge the gap between travel and movies nicely--I think our faceless driver has a hint of James Dean, or maybe Elvis-as-a-bad-boy about him.
