So last Friday, I called the van service to see about taking me shopping over the weekend. I also had plans to get to the MVD on Monday. What happened? They informed me that my pass had expired and I'd have to come in to renew it. No big deal, I was assured. Just come in with my pass and get a new sticker for it. I made an appointment for them to bring me in and I even double-checked on Monday. Oh, I'll need $5? Sure, I can do that. Totally worth it.

I get there and am told that I've been misinformed, that I need to submit a NEW application, signed by my -doctor, at which I had a snit. (Just a small one. Not even 10% of a hissy-fit, I swear!) Because FFS, I have FIVE medical-type appointments this month, and I CAN'T miss them. Got the nice young lady to extend me til the end of this month--I see my cardiologist on the 23rd, and he ought to be amenable.

Came home completely knackered and ended up sleeping for nine of the next 12 hours. I really hope the surgery helps--and no, I don't have a date yet, although I'll be there tomorrow, so fingers crossed something will come of that.

Yesterday, hallelujah, I finally completed The Secret of the Weird White Wedding, which is pushing 13.000 words. I started it back in April, and there were times I despaired! It just kept rattling along at its own pace, sprouting unplanned scenes and secondary characters...and still, I persisted! And somehow, after all the subplots and entanglements, it came together. I wouldn't say it's great literature (I always firmly believe that the best thing I ever wrote is the next thing I'm going to write.), but my recipient was happy. At this point, the fandom(s) being what they are, I have ONE guaranteed reader, and she and I are more or less writing for each other.

This morning, I sat down at the keyboard with thoughts of a coda, and ended up completing a chapter for something virtually no one is reading (but I enjoy it)...so chapter 4 of my MCU carnival AU is up. (Bucky runs the shooting gallery.) It's a change of pace for me, because this isn't the nice-guy Bucky I usually write. Nope, this guy's more of a bastard, but not wholly unsympathetic.

I still haven't been to the MVD. It'll have to be Monday, because tomorrow is bariatrics and Friday I'm back at the dentist for at least two more extractions. Tuesday is my foot specialist--good timing, because I'm a bit concerned about my right big toe, and on Thursday, it's my ophthalmologist.

By next Friday, I expect to have to take to my bed like a swooning Victorian spinster who's fresh out of smelling salts. Next Friday is also the next date when I may be able to see GK, who has been off delivering Second Son to college in California...she got back in the wee hours this morning, and next she's off to a wedding in NY state for a week. (It wouldn't bother me a bit if all her in-laws got wiped out by a meteorite--as long as she wasn't with them at the time!)

Just the cardiologist the following week, on Thursday. Then Fri-Sat-Sun is Bubonicon, then Monday night is Lindsay Sterling--I need to get my parking placard renewed in time for that--leaving me four days after that to get the van service nonsense resolved. That would be a lot to deal with if I was perfectly healthy. While I'm looking forward to the Con and the concert, I know they're both going to be tiring.

I hope, I really, really hope, that once I get this crap out of the way, I'll have a week or so off. That the next thing on my schedule will be pre-op and surgery. No guarantee, but it would be nice. I know I'll still need some more teeth out, but I can do that before surgery as long as I butch up and forego any pain meds afterward. (There are cut-offs for anything that may be a blood thinner. Nothing too close to surgery.) This process has LITERALLY been going on for a year. I just want it done.

Anybody have any good news? I'd love to hear something happy!

That is a huge amount of stuff, and transportation is *necessary* for all of it! What are people thinking--you can teleport where you need to go? Apparate? People=stupid.

I wish you luck with all of it, may you come out of the gauntlet with all ducks in a row and ready to rumble!

Good news--a portable AC was delivered this afternoon, and a neighbor fella is coming by in the next few days to install it. I have to clear out around the space where it will sit so the guy can actually get the unit in there close to the window. But AC! Just in time, I suspect, for the cool down period of summer. Ah well, it will be handy next year.

More good news--I posted an unfinished bit of early SPN fic, Bobby and an OFC, gen, The Archivist, posted upsream. I may poke at it some more, we'll see.

No good news to share, sadly, but I did want to agree with your frustration. WHY does everything in life have to be so damn complicated? We have more ways to communicate and keep track and collate (etc) now than ever, yet it's usually one big hassle trying to get anything done. Miscommunication, differing answers from different people, messages getting lost -- it shouldn't be this way THIS often.

It is total bullshit. I could spend days, weeks even, going on about all the snafus and fuck-ups and run-arounds, and just about everyone I know has their own tales to tell. WHY is this constantly happening? Once in awhile, every now and then, sure ... but there's just no excuse for how often this occurs. And it's especially frustrating and worrisome when you're dealing with medical issues - that is NOT something any of us can afford (financially or otherwise) to have screwed up!
