Today I went through my cabinets and pantry and tossed the stuff that was gnawed by bugs or was over the hill (as in "Best if used by June 2001"). Came to the conclusion that if I get off my lazy ass and *cook*, I've more than enough to get me through a few weeks of frugal shopping. I've got a helluva lot of rice, no shortage of noodles OR pasta sauce, and enough beans to send the office screaming and running for gas masks.

That's basically all I did today. I made it to the store mid-afternoon for necessaries, but I spent much of the day curled up with a good book ("Once Bitten" by Laurien Berensen). Watched "Formula 51" again this evening and tinkered with a couple jewelry-type projects. Oh, and I mended my cranberry red skirt to wear to church tomorrow with that red/blue/gold vest Liz gave me. (Too bad I haven't any interesting shoes to go with it!)

Interesting sociological observation: Most of the time, I've noticed that men go to the grocery store in packs with their friends...or girlfriends. Lone men in a supermarket are elusive. But not today! With the prospect of the Big Game tomorrow, they're out in daylight, scurrying after beer and chips and dips, suitcases of Mountain Dew and Doritos and salsa....

I'll probably watch the Super Bowl for the commercials if nothing else, although I'm disappointed that the Colts didn't make it. They came SO close. I've been fond of Tony Dungy since his days with the Bucs; it would've been wonderful if he'd had something *good* happen after his personal tragedy this season. *le sigh*
