Grr. Got a text from Lambie, which was odd enough, as it was mid-afternoon. I had a bad feeling, and I wasn't wrong. She's cancelled her trip here for Christmas due to BS family stuff that I won't go into. To say that I'm pissed doesn't begin to do my feelings justice. I've spent the last four months all bouncy and happy, looking forward to seeing her and making lists of things we'd do, and SPLAT! Everything face-plants.

I'm trying to look on the bright side: At least I procrastinated about Christmas shopping! I haven't spent a bunch of money, so I have it to invest in other things. And...so far, that's all I've got. I'm hurt and angry, which I suppose I'll get over eventually...but right now, it just makes me feel like I'm everybody's second banana.

GK has rescheduled the feast for Friday, by which time a thaw is predicted, so coming to get me won't be so fraught. So tomorrow will be quiet, but there are still be some festivities ahead. So, yay.

She and I have made plans to see "Knives Out" on Sunday after she gets off work. It's also the first of the month, so I'll be able to get some groceries. et al. I've also got a line of a china cabinet! Really gorgeous Mid-Century Modern, 4 feet wide, under $100. (If, that is, it's still there after the 1st of the month!)

Anyway, that's the current status quo. Love to all.

I'm so sorry to hear your friend cancelled her visit - no wonder you're feeling hurt and angry, that seems an appropriate response to such a disappointment

I hope you enjoy a calm day tomorrow, and then the festivities later on; hopefully without too much drama

I'm hoping for the good kind of drama during the one-shot D&D game afterward. God knows, it's been about 15 years since I last played--HWSNBN was still in the picture--but what the heck, it should be fun.

I'm going to keep reminding myself that it isn't exactly my first solo Christmas. That it saves me having to drag everything in from the shed and decorate (tho I admit I was rather looking forward to having my ceramic trees on display for once). That the pressure to incorporate somebody else into my private space is off. And that she's the one who's going to miss out on the big bash GK is throwing for her 55th birthday.

There's a chance she'll reschedule for spring, but I'm not holding my breath...and anyway, that's NOT the same as Christmas.

Thanks, love. I'm in a quagmire of depression--there's such a difference between trying not to be depressed and actually not being depressed. We had so many plans and I was really excited and now all that fizzy excitement has gone flat. *sinks into hug and may cry on your shoulder a bit*
