I, personally, have had a fairly good day. Even for a Monday on which I woke and stayed awake at 4:30, squeaked into work at the stroke of 8:37, and found out at 1:10 that a friend's mother died. (I'm sorry. I know that's politically incorrect these days; one is supposed to say "passed", as if the deceased used their turn signals and cruised on down the highway to Heaven.)

Which probably gives a terribly flippant impression of me, and I'm not. Well, okay, I am, to an extent--but I *do* feel badly for my friend and his family. Losing close family members is traumatic, and right around the holidays--oh, dear! I'm under the impression it wasn't completely unexpected, but it's still sad for them.

I just happen to have an aversion to that particular brand of euphemism; last year, someone in our church died, and one of the older ladies misunderstood the reference to "going home". She thought the deceased had been discharged from the hospital and was just a phone call away.... *headshake* No, when I give up the ghost, kick the bucket, start pushing up daisies, I want the event to be heralded in no uncertain terms. (In my case, I'm hoping for a few choruses of "Ding-Dong, the Witch is Dead!") Is that too much to ask?!

I know, I know, irreverent. But I'm in a good mood! Got my YT story uploaded, am making steady progress on the other two Christmas writing projects, and may actually manage to get it all together *ahead* of the holidays for once!

Here's something suitably solemn... )
