Lengthy, even with cuts....
Mar. 11th, 2006 11:40 pmWow, what a day it's been! (In a good way!)
Asbury Arms: My eyes opened at 5:30 out of sheer anticipation, tho' the sale doesn't start until 8. I *was* the first person waiting out front, charged in, and was out by 8:45. I think my Viking ancestral genes were at work as I raided, plundered and pillaged. Highlights: a blue-on-white Asian vase, a chenille bedspread with a design of interlocking circles, and this year, the jewelry was much better than usual. Usually it's too tacky for words, but this time, there were a few articles that would have made that alone worth getting out of bed for. ( Read more... ) The biggest surprise was finding a set of Denise Linn's meditations on past lives--more New Age-y than I usually expect from that crowd, but I accept the Universe's gift with delight (Now what the heck did I do with my tape player?!)
Went home and *thought* I'd take a nap, but no, B called and said she was going to kidnap me. Since being kidnapped by B is always worthwhile, I got up and put my shoes back on and poured caffeine down my throat and we went and poked around three thrift stores and Big Lots. (With a timeout for lunch at Sonic.) Found two nice platters, one Corelle with an unfamiliar pattern--cutesy flowers--and one retro pottery, kind of an atomic 50's pattern. A set of Danish modern carving tools--two knives and a fork, with sleek handles and looking like they've never been used. Fun stuff.
Staggered home about 3. Showered. Had a snack. Went off to church for the second workshop at 5:15.
dragontdc, I asked Chris about his e-mail address--he said it all goes through his web site, that he doesn't have a separate e-mail address, and you're welcome to contact him, but he's on tour for another week, and won't be answering for at least that long. The workshop was awesome. If y'all ever get a chance to take a class or workshop with him, by all means, go for it. For me, it was absolutely worth it. Not only is he well-spoken and highly knowledgeable, he's a really sweet guy. Great sense of humor. (He fit right in with our bunch...too bad we can't transplant him!) Tonight was all about plant energy...how in addition to their medicinal uses, plants have magikal correspondences with planets and divinities--really intriguing! We each brought in an herb and brewed a group potion with the title of "Antidote to the Modern World". (Credit for the title goes to AI.) The intention was harmony: peace, serenity, I heard someone say sanctuary, my intention was the casting off of old baggage, which is the path I'm on at the moment.
