Wild Kingdom of Schnauzers
Mar. 19th, 2006 07:30 pmOkay, here I am, actually conscious, instead of practically typing in my sleep....
Last night there were a few too many dogs in Schnauzerland. In addition to the usual suspects, J brought over her two good-sized German Shepards, and S's friend brought her schnauzer, who is full brother to one of Susie's offspring. This might not have been so bad, except that one of the house bitches hadn't had a bath since she was last in season (a couple of weeks ago), and the visitors were very much interested in her. The schnauzer was humping air and *whining* at a pitch that made me want to exile him to Bavaria and the bitch was snarling at snapping at everything that came near her, which did *not* make for a relaxed atmosphere.
However, the lamb was to die for! It was bathed in a mildly spicy cream sauce and served on a bed of delicately seasoned brown rice.
sbjb gave S a rice cooker and instructed her in its mysteries--she's the one who Googled the recipe for the dish (It started with a "k", it's something Middle Eastern--they'd had it at a local restaurant and wanted to recreate it.). Biscuits were not the most ethnicly correct choice of starch for that, but they were what Susie had on hand. (Catch her having pita lying around, let alone papadums. Umm...papadums--!)
I dragged myself to church on about four hours sleep...nice, nothing over the top...came home and tried to resist the siren-call of Bed, and finally napped for another few hours. I'm still yawning a bit.
