Clothing swap
Mar. 26th, 2006 06:44 pmThe clothing-swap at church went really well--better than I expected, anyway. Came away with several scarves (including one leopard print!), a black faux leather bucket-style purse, and a shirt. It was the only fitted article that had I a prayer of getting into, and it was the one I lusted after most: a leopard print blouse. Mind you, it's long sleeved, so most of the year, if I wear it, it'll be open over a shell. It *does* button, though I will be using the old "safety pin between the tits" trick to keep it from gaping.
My stuff attracted some attention--R got my black cowboy hat, which looks darn good on her. I pulled it down from my closet a couple weeks ago, and tried it on; I have too much hair for it these days, so it's got a new home now. The Kid got that little flat tweed hat, which is adorable on her. Leftover clothes are going to the local youth shelter--the stuff that didn't fit or didn't appeal to anyone is being donated there.
We've already decided to do it again in the fall, and I'm hoping we can work up more enthusiasm among plus-sizes. Mostly it was stuff sizes 10 thru 18, and that's nice for them but doesn't do me any good. Even if I lose a bunch of weight between now and then, I don't think going from something like a 32 down below a 20 is a realistic expectation.
A good weekend, and a short week to look forward to, since I'm off next Friday to take care of business, namely the @#$%ing property taxes....
